We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lauren Cremer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I was 21 when I moved to London, I started making digital collages and little edits of myself and my friends which was something I’d primarily done with magazines in the past. I was doing this regularly enough that I wanted a little portfolio account on Instagram to kind of keep it separate from my personal stuff. At the same time I’d discovered lots of people named Lauren go by Loz here so I just kind of mashed up Loz and Portfolio and ended up with Lozfolio. I’m really glad I did that looking back because it marked a massive milestone in my life as well as my artistic evolution.

Lauren, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a self taught in photography, retouching, post production, 3D modelling, graphic design, & creative direction. I have experience creating posters, album art, editorial photo shoots, press shoots for musicians, lookbooks, & more. I am highly adaptable to whatever the suited genre for the project is and have spent a lot of time working to be able to successfully complete as broad a range of projects as possible.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Just constantly interacting with similar artists or artists that I admire. All the algorithms make it really easy to find people with similar tastes/ideas/inspirations to myself. I think trying to be part of creative collectives and find little subcultures makes it much easier too.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Definitely when a project comes to a close, especially time consuming ones or when working with difficult clients. Knowing that I made something from start to finish or at least had a part in making something new is incredibly rewarding once it’s finished. I think seeing things in print is especially special too, since most of what we see nowadays is digital. The first time I ever had work in a print magazine it was major for me.
