We were lucky to catch up with Lauren Battin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Growing up in a military family meant constant change. We moved often, and people regularly came in and out of our lives. There was a lot of joy in the experiences, but also pain in the goodbyes that came with moving so much.
What my parents did really well was keep things honest and real. They never pretended challenges didn’t exist, and we always found ways to laugh together. That built resilience in me.
That resilience has helped me while building my graphic design business. It’s a saturated market, and there have been moments where it felt difficult to stand out. For a long time I also focused only on the local market before realizing my work could reach people far beyond my area. Growing up constantly adapting to change helped me push through those challenges, shift my perspective, and keep building forward.

Lauren, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Lauren B. Graphics helps businesses create professional brands and websites that attract customers and support growth. With a background in graphic design, I saw that many great businesses struggle simply because their online presence doesn’t reflect the quality of what they offer.
I specialize in logo design, branding, website development, and marketing solutions that help businesses stand out and communicate clearly with their customers. My focus isn’t just on making things look good, but on creating websites and brands that function as real business tools—bringing in leads, building credibility, and making it easy for customers to take action.
What I’m most proud of is helping small and local businesses present themselves with the same level of professionalism as companies in larger cities. My goal is to create designs and digital systems that continue working for my clients long after the project is finished.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Growing up as a military child taught me resilience at a very young age. My family moved about every three years or less, which meant constantly adjusting to new schools, communities, and cultures. I also had the opportunity to live overseas for six years in Japan and Germany. Those experiences shaped how I see the world and helped me learn how to adapt quickly to new environments.
When we eventually moved back to the United States, adjusting to the culture again was surprisingly difficult. After spending so much of my childhood overseas, it felt like starting over in a place that was supposed to feel familiar. That experience pushed me to become more independent, open-minded, and determined to find my own path.
Looking back, those constant changes helped build the resilience I rely on today as an entrepreneur. Moving so often taught me how to step into unfamiliar situations, learn quickly, and keep moving forward even when things feel uncertain.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first started my business, I was trying to reach anyone and everyone who might need design help. I offered a wide range of services and worked with many different types of clients while I figured out where I could make the biggest impact.
Over time, I realized that the businesses I enjoyed helping most were service-based businesses—contractors, local providers, and small business owners who need practical tools to help them operate and grow. That realization helped me pivot and narrow my focus.
Now my work centers on building websites and digital solutions specifically for service-based businesses. My goal is to help them attract customers, stay organized, and manage their work more efficiently.
While I’m continuing to expand my reach beyond my local area, the support from businesses in Meigs County, Ohio played a big role in helping me grow and refine that focus.
