We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Laura Lerman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Laura, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I love my story because it shows that if you put your mind to something you can make it happen! Many years ago i found my self a single mom (2 kids 8 months and 2 years), $34 to my name, $300k worth of debt, no job to speak of and no plan to get out of that situation. The business I was running was 2 months old and had yet to make on $$. After about 6 years I made the decision it was time for a carrier change and got my real estate license. It took about 2 years to get my new company up and running but once it was running there was very little that could or would stop me. Now i am 7 years in, am a top producer in the market and spend lots of time coaching and growing other agents.

Laura, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For many years i considered real estate but was to scared to pull the trigger. As a single mom with no college education and no real world job experience I had to find a carrier that would allow me to be successful with the skills I had. I wanted a carrier that would allow me to be a mom first and a business owner second. I also wanted a carrier that would allow me to service others. So Real Estate was the best and only choice that excited me!
In 2015 I passed my test and got my license and hit the ground running! From day one it has felt like this industry was made just for me. I love every part of the transaction from meeting someone new to celebrating a successful transaction at the closing table. I pride myself on the service that my team offers each and every one of our clients. We work hard to make sure every part of the process is fun and exciting for our clients. Our goal is to provide a solution to every question we encounter. Even when they don’t fall under a real estate category.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals and past clients. My team and i really pride ourselves on our ability to take total care of a client. We dont just look at your housing needs we look at all the ways your housing needs will affect your life and we start there. We provide information about areas, schools, taxes, other local businesses (having a strong network and good small businesses to refer is our secret weapon), hyper focused neighborhood data, restaurants, shopping and what ever else our clients might need. Our goal is to make sure our clients have the best experience possible when working with us! Then when the transaction is closed we are only one phone call away when you have a new need. We stand by our goal to be your real estate solution for life.
Our clients love the way we love on them and trust our referrals and suggestions even when they are outside of a real estate related question!
If we don’t hear from you we check in many times a year to just keep in touch!

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I love this question! Strong servant leadership. I would encourage anyone looking to grow a team or manage a team to understand the value in clear communication and listening to understand. When you make it a habit to really understand the needs of the people on your team and make sure those needs are filled it will motivate them to work hard. When you take the time to listen you will learn things that you did not know. You will understand what makes your team function.
