We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Laura Anderson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Laura below.
Alright, Laura thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Most Brands will either do their digital marketing in-house or use an agency, these two options are the current industry standard. Both have pros and cons – Hiring someone in-house means you have someone dedicated full time to your account but you have to pay them a hefty salary along with expensive benefits, with an agency, you have a team, but that team has a handful of other clients who they apply the same strategies to regardless of how different each brand is.
Being a Consultant really means the best of both worlds, I’m dedicated to my clients 24/7 and take the time to analyze each individual account and build custom strategies specifically for each brand. No two brands are alike and they should never be treated as such.
While there are definitely great agencies out there (I even work with a great one!) I see so many brands get burned by big agencies who promise them the world and deliver next to nothing. They are sold on “The hype man” who hypes up their business and goes over the top to promise them extremely high results, but after they are signed and locked into a contract they are immediately put on the backburner.
My goal is to help these clients realistically scale their business, I will never be a “hype man”, who sells my clients on fluff metrics. I am practical + analytical and focus on real strategic growth, which sets me apart in the industry.
Being a Consultant with these principles I have been able to scale my client’s email marketing + Facebook advertising and have built long last relationships with them.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m a Digital Marketing Consultant- you may ask yourself, what does that mean?? Well for me it means Scaling clients’ Email Marketing and Facebook Advertising. Specifically, client’s in the beauty/wellness e-commerce space.
I’ve been in the industry 10+ years now, starting with everything from website design, branding, social media, to now digital marketing. I’ve honed in on strictly Facebook ads and email marketing as far as digital marketing goes because, in my experience, these are the two marketing platforms I see the best results for my clients. And why not specialize in the categories where you deliver the most success?
A little breakdown of my services:
Facebook Advertising (this includes Instagram too!) – I create custom advertising funnels along with all copy and creative to build out ads. I continually test new audiences and new advertising angles to maximize results and determine the right time to scale profitably.
Email Marketing – I build out all the necessary email flows, lists, and segments to achieve higher open rates, high revenue per recipient, and high click-thru rates. I build out weekly campaigns which includes creative concept and writing all the copy. I continually A+B test all flows and analyze all campaign data on a regular basis and apply the winning metrics accordingly moving forward.
I’m proud of all the work I’ve done for my clients and the success I’ve helped them achieve.
My next goal moving forward is to help more people move into the consulting space. I’m constantly asked how to get started, being as I have no degree and have built this business from the ground up, a lot of people see a great opportunity to try it out themselves.
I am currently in the works of building courses to help people fast track to a future in Digital Marketing Consulting. Essentially everything I’ve learned over the last 10 years- what to avoid, and a blueprint on how to be successful.
I believe there is enough work for everyone and I’m excited to share my expertise to help others who want to also succeed in the Digital Marketing space.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele has been to deliver outstanding results to my current clients. Nothing brings in more business than referrals from happy clients.
I also share a lot of client success stories on my social media ( Instagram and LinkedIn ), and provide value with tips and best practices for Digital Marketing. When you provide value to your followers you build trust and that trust ends up turning into business.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Building a business is no easy feat. There are constant struggles and obstacles to overcome, you’re always on the verge of hoping you can stay afloat another month. It’s definitely not a path for the unmotivated, you are continuously being tested and will see failure after failure. There have been times in between when I’ve had to work other jobs to pay the bills, but pushing through and not giving up has paid off greatly! Patience is a hard lesson but one that definitely pays off.
