We recently connected with Lativia Pringle and have shared our conversation below.
Lativia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
When it comes to content creation, I was introduced to the idea at first when I would watch other creators on YouTube do their hair and makeup. I was fascinated and believed that I could do the same. I tried a few times, got scared and gave up. A few years later the idea was introduced to me again but in a different way. My cousin would come over and watch her favorite YouTubers. I started to get that feeling again like “I could do this”. So I started over and I have been creating ever since. The best way to start is to just start. Press record, do your thing, and once you start the editing process you’ll see things you’d like to improve or do differently.

Lativia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Overall I consider myself an entrepreneur. I have a general associate’s degree in business operations and I am finishing up my Bachelor’s of applied science in supervision and management. After experiencing various jobs, managers, and coworkers, I decided that I needed creative freedom and control over my work environment/schedule. Now I am building multiple streams of income that I can enjoy participating in. Beauty, fashion, and lifestyle are my main niches that my content surrounds. I am overly proud that multiple major brands and their recruiters have acknowledged my work, and collaborated with me whether gifted or paid. I also do UGC work from time to time as well as collaborations and affiliate marketing. Outside of content creation, I run a small hair business. My target consumer is any individual that wears V-Part wigs as a protective style, and wants an affordable unit. Lastly, for now I also do freelance work via Telus Digital. I love being able to tap into my “nerdy” side, and work from anywhere, anytime.

How did you build your audience on social media?
On YouTube I started to post videos that I knew would do well in the search engine, while staying true to myself. Knowing what your audience is looking for, and being able to execute it properly is what I would say helps me. There will always be ups and downs, but if you stay consistent and study your analytics you’ll see the improvement overtime.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goals is to live happy, while making money in my sleep. Everyone has different things they desire. Some strive to be doctors, some people want to have a big family, some even want to go to the moon and space. I want to be on an island, doing a bit of work while enjoying the sun and frozen beverages.
