Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lani Veiga. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lani, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
I recently changed my slogan from Veiga Entertainment -The Platform of Entertainment to Veiga Entertainment The Innovative Fusion of Entertainment. Although I still am part of a team that provides platforms and opportunities for the artist, I am more focused on fusing music together.
This week on my radio show “Vibin with Veiga”, I play a Caribbean sound, rock music and Go-Go music within an hour’s span. While also giving positive feedback on life situations and motivational speaking. On my show I give tribute to indie artist, producers and DJ’s.
My brand is modeled after myself. I am multi-cultural and I embrace them all. This definitely reflects in my music choices. I pretty much listen and enjoy most music. I infuse this love of music into my business by welcoming all genres of artists. I am open-minded to promote and market different genres. They also have the opportunity to be aired on both my radio station and my radio show.
I recently attended an event in January of 2024. I’d just been introduced to a rock band that was practicing in the studio room to the left. (Shout out to Nightwind Band). I was there to support an artist (shout out to OCA Stacks) that was to the right of the building. I stood in between both areas and I actually felt torn. I wanted to be in both rooms at the same time. This inspired me to take on the role of being the puzzle piece. You don’t know all the steps to your goals until you are in the middle of it. Being the puzzle piece not only allows me a chance to fuse together genres and people that may have not initially been drawn together. I have the amazing opportunity to be the voice for the artist. Linking them to the record labels and industry executives.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Lani Veiga. I am the creator of Veiga Entertainment. When I first came onto the party scene I merged my nickname with my industry name. I was very well known and we didn’t want to confuse the people that already knew me as Lani. I now go by Veiga in the entertainment field. I have very humble beginnings.
(My back story)
Freshly graduated from high school I was the youngest staff member working at an elementary school. One day I was approached by a group of excited and eager fourth graders that wanted to create a talent show. They were told that they would have to have an adult to lead the production. With a very limited budget and just my own know-how I followed my instincts. I recruited her teenage cousin and her friends to assist with dance routines and costumes. Using my natural street marketing techniques we were able to donate money to the computer program for two school years with these talent shows.
I have picked up artist management again and am actively promoting and managing amazing talent and vocalist, Wally-B. Together we are creating a new reality in the entertainment world.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Marketing and advertising has always excited me.. I use my personality and just meet people. I am the child of an entrepreneur. At the young age of eight I took it upon myself to pass out brochures and fliers promoting my father’s business at an outdoor event in Washington, DC. The excitement of “let the people know that you are here!” was how I best explained the adrenaline rush.
I began promoting on Myspace before anyone else was doing it. I was still working as a street team member. We were pushing parties and we were having artists perform at these events. I would spend at least 10 hours a day on social media. At that time no one else had a page specifically just for a brand or a party. I did. I began creating pages for other brands and businesses. I now had a whole new side gig. I would take pictures at the clubs, go inside for a little while. I would network with the owners and the DJ’s. Then I would bounce off to the next club. I went to at least 3 events a night on these party nights. My party mentor at the time told me that if you have time to party then you’re business is not busy. So I never stayed at these events for more than an hour. I had thousands of flyers to push out. I love street team work and I still use the methods now. Everyone isn’t on social media and I don’t have access to everyone online. I have to do both. Everyone should market the product or in my case, market myself like they believe in it. Someone once told me that you can’t push anything that you don’t believe in. Believe in yourself and your product.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The Veiga Entertainment brand became reputable within the entertainment field almost instantly. Crusader of the typical roles played out by promoters, managers and industry executives, I have exceeded the expectations put onto myself and placed onto me by onlookers. I’ve supported internet radio as a co-host, business partner, booking agent, promotional director, marketing specialist and now a co-owner of Chat Shamelessly Plug radio.
Although the music industry in itself is a small planet compared, the opportunities seem limitless in such an enormous range of ever-growing advertising space. I actively participate in community-based causes and events forming relationships and developing networks on a global scale. Along side a network of like-minded brands and entrepreneurs I expedite brands and expand as an organization, proving that I am indispensably my own brand.
