Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to LaLisa General. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, LaLisa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I am building a legacy that uplifts/heals the community (not limited to but specifically women). Whether it’s from childhood trauma or single parents. The things that people will say about me when I am gone is that I am consistent. I gave it all that I had. I hope to be remembered as a vessel doing God’s work amongst the people. Hopefully they learn from me healing & they draw near to The Most High, & live a fulfilling life.

LaLisa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an artist (writer, rapper, author, clothing brand, podcast, etc). Being an author is what I am going to focus on in this article. My first book Pregnancy Blues (available on Amazon) gained instant success. It was #1 New Seller & #8 Best Seller on Amazon. 2019 was the year that it was published.
Pregnancy Blues was inspired by a bad break up with my child’s father. I go into detail about his narcissistic traits, but more importantly I give the blue print on how I healed from the abuse. Releasing baggage & letting my daughter know the full story were my original reasons for writing it. Beyonce released the album Lemonade two years before I went through the break up. She turned her pain into profit. I was determined to do the same. When people intentionally hurt you they want to break you, It is a blow to the ego when you rise higher.
Helping other women heal is a goal of mine, as well as reaching the youth at an early age. The pain that I endured at the time in my life I would not wish on anyone. There are so many women who have told me that this story helped them with a similar situation. I didn’t realize so many of us experienced the same type of trauma.
On my journey as an author I am most proud of being transparent through the pain. Some individuals look at their hurt as an embarrassment. I was a little skeptical about sharing my story at first, God reminded me that I overcame which can inspire others. Altogether I published four books. They all are influential. Something to push us forward.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to fulfill God’s purpose & I feel like that is teaching. We all have trials & tribulations all of them are not meant to be shared but the ones that are should be.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele is being authentic. Not only sharing my experiences but giving solutions as well. Sharing details on what I may have learned.
