Kyll, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?

June 6, 2026: Kyll’s project “STANDSTILL” will be released to the public. After 3 years of label rejection, hard work, lost time, lost friends and sleepless nights spent on perfecting a solo body of work; STANDSTILL will release 12AM 06/06/26.

Kyll began writing this body of work from an introspective standing. July 15th of 2022, his life changed under the effect of an extreme event. He begun a life of drugs, partying, avoiding sunlight, new girls nightly, and a past-running style of living. This body of work is a reflection of his emotions, thoughts, and things he’d never said.

01/18/26 Kyll was interviewed in Massachusetts. He was asked “Why STANDSTILL?”. Kyll responded “You’ve never felt like everything around you is racing, while you felt stuck? STANDSTILL is about a quiet self-destruction taken to the furthest form. The silence breaks you. And it makes you break everyone else.”

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Kyll Mara, born 22 year old Jasper Ray Mara in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a Dark RnB artist whose music lives in the shadows of intimacy and raw emotion. His journey began in the chaos of metalcore, where from age 13 to 17 he explored the extremes of sound, screaming truths he was only beginning to understand. By 20, he pivoted into pop, blending the intensity of his past with a new, haunting sensuality.

Over the years, Kyll has amassed over 500,000 streams across all platforms, a testament to his ability to connect with listeners through vulnerability and atmosphere. His music reflects the after-hours life he lived from 20 to 23: the heartbreaks, the reckless indulgences, the search for meaning in fleeting highs. He captures euphoria in a bottle and gives it away to the listener—each song a distilled, intoxicating moment meant to be felt deeply.

What sets Kyll apart is his refusal to sanitize experience. His songs are both confessional and cinematic, offering listeners a mirror to their own hidden truths. He creates for those who exist on the edge—those who crave honesty wrapped in melody, darkness softened by rhythm.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Kyll Mara built his audience by letting silence and truth speak louder than any strategy. He didn’t chase trends or force attention—he allowed the music and his story to lead the conversation. Every post, every release, carried a weight of honesty; he shared moments that weren’t polished, moments that were real, and that authenticity resonated. Fans came not because of hype, but because they felt seen and understood in the spaces his music created.

For those starting out, his advice is simple: don’t overexplain or overperform. Let your truth guide your presence. Speak when you have something real to say, and let the work itself—your music, your art, your craft—carry the weight of your story. People connect to sincerity more than spectacle. Patience and authenticity always outlast noise.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Kyll Mara’s creative mission is to build something bigger than himself, the listener, and even the journey itself. He aims to craft a world that feels completely supernatural and unexplainable—a vibe that hasn’t been invented, a feeling that hasn’t yet been found. It’s the sensation of being at the edge of life, when everything has crashed, and your own psychosis convinces you that everything is okay.

His upcoming album, STANDSTILL, embodies this vision. It captures the after-hours world—the bridges burned, the lovers, the friends, the enemies, the drugs, the fleeting connections, and the weight of numbness. It’s the uncanny paradox of being surrounded by everyone and feeling nothing, of emotion both absent and overdriven. Through it all, Kyll creates music that doesn’t just tell a story—it immerses you in a feeling, a space that exists somewhere between chaos and euphoria.
