Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristina Simmons. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kristina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I am a mom, wife, yoga and meditation teacher. Yoga has helped me work through my post kids challenges. My mission is to help women, moms, working moms to work through life challenges.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Kristina and I am Hatha and Ashtanga certified yoga teacher based in Northern Colorado. I was born and raised in Ukraine. When I was 14 years old my mom and I moved to the United States to reunite with my grandparents. While studying at CSU, I have dicovered my passion for yoga and meditation. After university I became a mom to two amazing kiddos and a wife to a wonderful husband.
I have rediscovered yoga in 2019, after moving with my family to Australia and having a rough time adjusting to my new life there without any familly or friends around.
In 2020, I got my yoga certification from Yoga and Meditation school of India. In 2021 before moving back to Colorado, I have also finished 350 hour yoga training and became a senior teacher of Yoga and Meditation School of India.
Now I teach private traditional yoga and meditation classes. My yoga classes are great for beginners as well as for seasoned yogi.
Yoga and meditation was and still is a healing journey for me. In every class students get to experience traditional seqeancing of asanas (postures). Followed by pranayama (breathing technique) and always finishing class with meditation.
My goal is to help and heal women, moms, working moms. Because we carry so much weight of taking care of our families, kids, husbands, houses, work that often we forget about ourselves. Yoga is where you get to forget about all of that, recharge and be present with yourself.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I am still in a process of building my audience on social media. Social media can be very hard and overwhelming at times. I believe that you have to keep it real, provide content that your target audience can relate or learn from. I think it all depends on your goals. If want to get followers than you just post trending reels and stories, but if your goal is your audience to get to know you and your business than share what you do and stay real.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Confidence. English is my second language. Confidence in speaking in front of people had been always challenging for me because of my accent and some people have hard time understanding me. Speaking and teaching with confidence and embracing my accent is one of the biggest lessons for me
