We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Koma Salazar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Koma below.
Hi Koma, thanks for joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Yes. When I came to this country it was just a dream. I made it happen by connecting with the scene that I was aiming for and the people making it happen at the time. Even tho I didn’t speak the language. I made my way through. little by little. Back in the day, there was no social media at all, so it was more difficult to be seen or heard. My career took a significant change when my work went “on air” on a radio station and then people actually started knowing about my work. If I knew social media was going to be the future of many projects, businesses and careers, i would`ve put myself out there sooner.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
We produce, book and promote events that create jobs and epic moments for people in Houston, and eventually other cities. What sets us apart from others is that, unlike other companies, we create opportunities for upcoming talents putting their skills out there with a real crowd. We are proud of seeing many of our debutants succeed by getting contracts on their own or more gigs because of our given exposure and of course, because of their own talent. We wish to expand this project as much as we can because we know there’s a lot of talent out there seeking opportunities that others are not willing to give. To accomplish our task, we need to take our message to as many people as we can. #ConceptoFamily
What do you find most rewarding about being creative?
The rewarding part is to do what you love and touch other people’s souls with what you do. Do what you love – Love what you do #PincheKoma
We get to provide a great show, event or party where people can forget about the outside world for a couple hours and enjoy that time as they wish. Of course, always bringing great music alongside….

In your view, what can society do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
We strongly think that society can support artist or creators following their real taste of music, art and vibes. Not the ones that the media dictates.
