We recently connected with Khaalida Holt and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Khaalida thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Becoming successful is a choice, it has absolutely nothing to do with talent! Talent may make things a little easier but discipline is what will allow you to complete the task. Success takes grit and tenacity; patience and perseverance and ultimately commitment. It is the decision to commit to the conscious development of a unique or realistic set of principles that will keep you grounded and disciplined along your journey. These principles are training grounds that will prepare you for similar situations you may encounter in the future. Its important to know what to do or at least be prepared for the time when life starts to become rocky, and no longer feels familiar, when things aren’t happening the way you imagined, when your loved ones die and your money gets low. What in the world is going to keep you holding on? When your entire world feels like its ripping apart at the seams, just as soon as you believed that you had it all together, it blows up in your face! What in the world is going to keep you holding on, no matter the situation.
That thing that keeps you holding on no matter the situation is called your “Why?” Its the only thing that will carry you across the finish line. Which means in order to develop your “Why” your thinking has to be massive and your ”Why” has to be fixated on something or someone bigger than you. It takes grit and tenacity to become successful. It takes relentless unwavering belief in yourself and a relentless belief that you can do it. No matter when the situation presents itself it’s important that you don’t allow the situations that surround you or the people in your life to distract you from the things you are committed too.
Depression is real, loneliness is real, separation anxiety is real and what you never want to do is deny yourself the opportunity to feel, to love, to scream, to risk everything for a dream that only you can see. To acknowledge your thoughts, your fears your setbacks and to become very okay with who you are because if you don’t accept you its going to be a lot easier for you to get talked out of your dreams as soon as a better offer or opportunity comes along.
Vision is an intentionally personalized gift. Its a way in!
When things are happening around you whether it’s indirectly happening to you or directly happening to you, it’s easy to feel like it’s consuming you or that you are becoming consumed by everything going on. This alone will allow you to wind up entering into a state of what I like to call “Mental Paralysis” its a condition where what is going on in your mind is more powerful than what is taking place in your reality and you have become consumed by it. And you can lie dormant there for however long you decide to allow your thoughts to consume you. You can physically be in a room or surrounded by people who love and care about you, but mentally your one million light years away, it’s like you’re not even there. It’s difficult to live in the moment when you’re present with your “what if’s”.
Success is about the process its what you do during the process that shapes who you are, the decisions that you make that showcase who you’re becoming and how you handle the consequences or repercussions that build up your character. You, you, you, because we often forget that we too are powerful and that with that power we can change the trajectory of your life and begin taking the steps that will move you in a more positive direction. Don’t run from the pressure. Experience it! It takes pressure to become a diamond. The pressure that you endure is what ultimately begets Inevitable Transformation.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Khaalida Mahasan Holt and I am the Hair Psychologist™️ I inspire individuals, women and men (kings and queens) to grow, to believe in themselves, to go for it, to show up with a plan, even when you don’t feel like it, to see themselves and ultimately follow and embrace the music playing in their soul. Embrace who you are, aspire growth and unwavering confidence by deciding who you are and who you want to be. By allowing my guests to embrace their light through new perspective, heart connections are created through common relation or familiarity so that we can continue to communicate freely and grow fruitfully. Id be lying if i told you that this profession is what I have always wanted to do. It wasn’t until I was able to bring things full circle and come into complete alignment with the person I wanted to be as an individual and the person God purposed me to be that I was able to gain full understanding into why I wanted to share my gifts skills and expertise with the world. In fact truth be told there were a lot of things that i wanted to do and whether that belief was small or large i have always believed that i possessed what it took to fill those shoes, to fulfill those dreams, to be that person I just wasn’t aware of how I could do that, what that was exactly or how to go about that and I think that’s where most people get stuck, in the figuring it out. Why? Because we often run into questions that leave us stumped, like which steps would lead me in the direction that I want to go. I think that’s how so often a lot of us can get talked out of our dreams or run scared from them because you don’t know what’s waiting for you on the other side. Running is a fear based solution. Its what you do when you don’t feel competent enough to endure what you may be faced with or stumble into, so instead of allowing fear to push you into the direction of your dreams you allow fear to wedge itself in between. In fact that’s the fate that allowed me the privilege of even have the opportunity of sitting here talking to you right now. Fear! I was so focused on outrunning the problems I was facing, afraid of who or what i was becoming; unrecognizable I had fallen victim to the toxic relationships i helped perpetuate and I couldn’t find the light that led to the light versus the more darkness that surrounded the tunnel.. i was trying to escape my reflection in the mirror the visible scars that had taken a toll on my overall appearance the verbal and physical abuse that still pierces at my skin every now and than. No no i believe success begins with the steps that make your legs tremble the decisions you make that allow you to stumble right into your destiny. And I fell face first into this life that I have absolutely grown to not only love but cherish. All of its highs and lows that assist in creating me a masterpiece. I found a place where I could be myself I could dance, pray, be vulnerable, authentic and genuinely me, helping other people from my little square on the planet, assisting them with feeling confident in different hairstyles or protective styles, by way of conversation taking the time to literally just get to know about each and every one of my clients I could share with you something absolutely phenomenal about each one of my clients because i love each and every one of them because I have made it important I have made it a priority in my business to connect with my guests. I also provide products to assist my guests in caring for their hair as well as being able to maintain it because a lot of guests don’t know how, so I choose to be patient with my guest offering video tutorials, screen mirroring how to education and materials and in salon “Million Dollar Styling Tips”. Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn was cutting people off when they’re talking and not waiting until they have fully completed their thoughts. I would just powerfully and passionately chime right in and take over the conversation. Its super easy to become absolutely enthralled when someone is speaking so highly about what they love or a topic that I can really relate to or feel most passionate about. I would wind up not purposely but undoubtedly cutting them off mid sentence or mid thought and they’re so wrapped up in my excitement that they don’t even mind that i cut them off, which makes me feel awful grateful but awful. I am certain they figure they would just pick up the conversation when it became their turn, but how terrible. I on the other hand wasnt even cognizant of the fact I was doing it until i met this guy. I was working out in the gym and he was like hey can i watch you work out and i was like mm that’s a little weird but sure i mean its the gym maybe hes tryna get some pointers or something idk and so we leave the gym and were talking and the whole time were talking i cant get a word in and i would light up about a topic i would be getting ready to entertain and he would gather that same excitement and carry the conversation his way. And gosh it was the most frustrating thing. To be so excited about something and have your thought silenced. All I could think about was I really hope that this isnt what I do to people. Oh my goodness i was mortified.. all I could think of was what excuse i could make to leave expeditiously. Unlearning this lesson allowed me growth not only in the areas that concerned my clients but it caused me to become more conscious in the other areas of my life whether the relationship be dynamic or stagnant, romantic and platonic I haven’t run into one person who doesn’t desire to be heard, listened to embraced.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Managing your mind is not as easy and literal as it portrays itself to be. My favorite go to are people that have helped to inspire me and my journey These resources were being intentional about executing a relationship between God and I and what that would look like and finally prayer when I needed direction. Inspirational Speakers like Lisa Nichols provided me new perspective & vision when i needed a clear understanding of self love and how to allow fear to inspire you to jump, Les Brown when I needed to be reminded that its most important to believe that I can do it, I can accomplish hard things and win. Dr Myles Munroe when I required clarity in my thoughts and confirmation in my vision. Billy Alsobrooks and Eric Thomas when I need someone to push me. Sarah Jakes Roberts is a direct replica of a woman i aspire to be like she’s so raw and untouchable authentic and she’s herself no matter what room she is being pulled into at the time. One thing that all of these people have in common for me is that from each corner of their square on the planet they are executing exemplary change, perspective and new ways of being, of thinking and it so closely resonates with me because my ultimate objective is to aspire change in the lives of other people. Lets see how you become inspired as you take a window seat as I walk you through my journey of transformation.
