We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kevin Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin , thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.

The biggest risk I’ve taken was going against the status quo. There is a perception that you have to fit into A box, B box, or C box. That just isn’t the case. You can take the risk to create whatever box you’re called to create. It all starts with taking the first step.

Kevin , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I got into this field by consistently doing what I said I would do. I spent time with God, I wrote down S.M.A.R.T goals, I surrounded myself with like minded people who challenged me. That lead to me being an award winning photographer, published author, podcast creator, musician, and mentor. The task of becoming a mogul is daunting. Yet, if you persist and keep pushing then anything is possible!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

I had to unlearn what success looks like. Success isn’t measurable by everyone. It’s measured by you. Do you feel this endeavor was a success. If so then it was. We deem what was successful and what wasn’t.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I’d say being consistent and creative. Using popular hashtags and the right timing. Also finding your village or your people is huge! Don’t be afraid to have low views, that’s just fuel to the fire!
