We recently connected with Kenya Nycole Jordan and have shared our conversation below.
Kenya Nycole, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Getting my first client was nothing short of the favor of God. One day, while sitting at my desk at my corporate marketing job, I was casually scrolling through social media when I saw that Dianna Williams of the Dancing Dolls was looking for a graphic designer. I applied, thought little of it, and went on about my day.
Not long after, I had a moment that changed everything. One evening, while preparing for work the next day, I opened my closet and suddenly broke down in tears. In that moment, it became crystal clear to me that the job I was working was not allowing me to reach my full creative potential. I had been pushing through for a while, but deep down I knew something had to change.
Then came the day that became the final straw. I realized my time there was coming to an end, and despite not having a clear financial plan or knowing exactly what would come next, I made the decision to step out on faith. I submitted my two weeks’ notice, trusting that God was leading me out of that position and that He would provide the path forward.
My last day was a Friday. The very next Monday, Dianna Williams and her team called me in and she hired me as the brand designer for DD4L.
From that moment on, everything began to unfold. What started as a leap of faith turned into the beginning of my journey, and the rest, as they say, is history. I know without a doubt that it was God’s favor guiding every step of the way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always viewed the world through the prism of artistry and creativity. My innate talents have drawn me to various realms, including art, fashion, dance, makeup, and all forms of innovation. From a young age, my entrepreneurial spirit flourished, leading me to establish my first business at just nine years old. Today, I have honed my creative skills to emerge as a multifaceted entrepreneur. I am a graphic designer, a professional makeup artist, a content creator, and the social media manager for the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation and many amazing brands and organizations.
Upon graduating from the University of Georgia, I began my career in corporate marketing. While the role provided valuable experience, I soon realized there was a ceiling on the impact and success I truly desired. Guided by faith and a vision for something greater, I made the bold decision to step away from corporate life and take a leap of faith to start my own business.
My first client was Dianna Williams of DD4L (Dancing Dolls), an opportunity that marked the beginning of an incredible journey. In 2019, I had the honor of serving as the lead makeup artist on the Bring It Live Tour for the Dancing Dolls, an experience that further expanded and enriched my artistic path.
Since then, I have had the privilege of creating graphics and collaborating with a number of renowned brands and celebrities, including Steve Harvey, Janet Jackson, Usher, Coach D, and many others. In addition to my creative work, I manage social media platforms for several brands, developing strategic content and leading social media campaigns that amplify brand visibility and engagement. My work has also included creating digital content and campaigns for organizations such as the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation.
I am also proud to serve as a brand ambassador for leading beauty brands such as ColourPop and Morphe Cosmetics, further expanding my presence within the beauty and creative industries.
While I am deeply grateful for these accomplishments, I do not believe they are rooted in talent alone. I firmly believe that my character, dedication, and unwavering faith have been the true foundation of my journey, guiding every opportunity and milestone along the way.
Above all, it is through God’s grace and favor that each door has opened along the way. By continuing to place my trust in Him, I remain confident that even greater heights lie ahead—and I know that this is only the beginning of my journey.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The guiding force behind my creative journey is a commitment to move in excellence while exemplifying the character of Christ in all that I do. My work is not only a reflection of my creativity, but also a reflection of my values. I strive to approach every project with integrity, humility, and a spirit of excellence, believing that how I serve others is just as important as the work I produce.
In every collaboration, I make it a priority to treat my clients with dignity, respect, and genuine care. While I have had the privilege of working with celebrities and high-profile figures, I hold firmly to the belief that no client is greater or lesser than another. Every brand, every vision, and every individual I work with carries value and deserves the same level of attention, professionalism, and excellence.
To me, true success is not measured solely by recognition or accolades, but by the impact of the work and the character demonstrated along the way. Whether I am designing for a globally recognized figure or an emerging brand taking its first steps, I approach each opportunity with the same passion, dedication, and commitment to excellence. My goal is to ensure that every client feels seen, valued, and supported as we bring their vision to life.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
One of the most important lessons I have learned along my journey is the value of support and community. For a long time, I carried the mindset of doing everything on my own. As a one-person operation, I poured myself into every detail of the work. While that dedication helped build my foundation, it also taught me that there is only so much one person can do before reaching the point of exhaustion.
Looking back, I wish I had leaned on support sooner. Growth is not meant to happen in isolation. Today, I am grateful to be building a team of individuals that I am actively training and mentoring. My goal is not only to create support for the work I do, but also to invest in their growth, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and vision needed to pursue their own businesses and dreams.
Through this process, I have come to deeply understand the power of community and the importance of asking for help when it is needed.
