Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kennidy Rivet. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kennidy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
During quarantine I was bored and decided to start my hair Instagram a few months before I started school, and I was with my mom trying to decide what to name it, I said I wanted to do “kennidy does my hair” and my mom was like was no no no how about “kennidy did my hair” and from then on I have stuck with that and haven’t changed it!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Kennidy Rivet, I’m 22 years old and a Pisces. I love all things dogs, plants, and books! I grew up always wanting to do hair, my poor Barbie’s are glad that they can’t get hacked on anymore. In high school I kind of lost myself and didn’t know what I wanted to do anymore and decided to go to college for a year and there realized that all I wanted to do was hair. I started my journey in 2020, which was such a hard time for everyone and being able to learn about something that I loved made me feel less alone and made me so happy. Getting to wake up every day and go to a salon that I love so much and hanging out with my amazing clients is so rewarding and so special. My main goal with every client of course is making their hair look amazing but I also want to make them happy and feel like I’m a safe space for them, and I always try and make them laugh and feel like it’s an escape from whatever they’re dealing with. One thing I love about the style of hair that I do is that you look good always, I want your hair to look amazing whether it’s right after your appointment or 6 months later it should look beautiful!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Authenticity is such a big part of your social media, people want to see who you are and they can tell when you’re not being authentic. One main thing I do on social media is just being funny, potential clients love seeing that you have a sense of humor and it makes them want to come to you. Also showing up and being active is a huge thing, if you haven’t posted in 6 months no one’s gonna be looking at your page, you have to be on there posting so people can see you. And the follower count doesn’t make or break your business, you can have 300 followers and have a full book of clients, so don’t stress too much about social media, it should be fun and a creative outlet for you.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation in the industry is always being on time for my clients, looking cute, and being myself. I want my clients to walk out the door feeling amazing and confident, and word of mouth is huge in this business so if they love their hair, they’re going to be telling their friends all about it which brings more people to you and creates a good reputation.
