We recently connected with Kelsey Reidl and have shared our conversation below.
Kelsey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
It’s a bit of a crazy story that involves Hiking in Peru, Justin Bieber, and having JUST been let go from my dream job!
Here’s a snippet…
I was hiking in Peru (walking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu) when it happened — 💡 a spark of an idea ignited and I knew I needed to start my own community and eventually, launch a business.
To set the scene,
I was listening to 🎵 Justin Bieber on hour #7 of our daily trek to see Machu Picchu.
On hour #7 of my trek, I was…
Exhausted from a multi-day trek,
Covered in dirt & dust after multiple days with no shower,
But I was also more inspired than I had EVER been before. My mind felt clear, and I was excited for the next chapter of my life after having JUST been let go from my dream job working in Marketing for a major health food company.
I was listening to Justin Biebers new album while I was hiking that day, and in one of the songs he said the word ‘visionary’.
It stopped me dead in my tracks.
I got full body chills.
I knew I needed to brain dump in my journal that night, because I finally had this full body knowing that I was meant for more and I needed to create a community around the idea of living a ‘Visionary Life’.
It was in this moment in Peru that I decided to put my everything into building my dream, rather than working to build someone else’s for the rest of my life!
I was ready to Earn My Worth, Leave The ‘Corporate World’ & Finally ‘Launch My Own Thing’ (whatever that would be)…
Returning home was both exciting and daunting.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and unsure when you have a really big idea, and you’ve never executed on bringing it to life.
That’s why I decided to take matters into my own hands.
This decision ultimately led me down a path to success that I never could have imagined and today I run a multiple 6-figure consulting business where I build marketing strategies, host a business podcast, and deliver workshops on marketing topics like Social Media Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, and Marketing Funnels.

Kelsey, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Professional Marketing Consultant, a Small Business Coach, a Passionate Podcast Host of 7 years, a College Teacher at The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and a Dynamic Speaker and Workshop Facilitator.
I have spent nearly 15 years studying the ever-changing world of marketing through various lenses and job-titles, and I am known for my expertise in Content Marketing, SEO, and Experiential Campaigns and Event Activations.
I started my journey working with Canada’s top health brands including Loblaw’s, Vega and Garden of Life and eventually transitioned from the corporate sphere to focus on empowering small businesses in a consulting role. First by launching my own Social Media Agency, and now through consulting services, Online Courses and through free content that I publish through my blog, podcast and email list.
My mission is to make marketing FUN again for entrepreneurs.
In addition to my marketing expertise, I am also a Mom, avid sourdough baker and a competitive mountain biker (all require me to be patient and constantly be learning and improving!).
My approach demystifies marketing, and brings clients back to time-tested, psychology-based principles when it comes to creating their growth strategies.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
SEO is a key driver of growth and success in my business. To put it simply, a good SEO strategy helps people find you on the internet.
At present, Search Engine Optimization is responsible for over 50% of my annual business revenue which is incredible. It’s a truly passive strategy once you put in the groundwork.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) might seem intimidating at first, but those who embrace it are reaping major benefits.
I also generate a lot of clients through word of mouth, community marketing and hosting local events, and referrals.
Social media plays less and less of a role in driving clients, and instead acts as a bonus strategy when I have extra time.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
I’ve been hosting in-person meetups and events at least once or twice a year for the past eight years of running my business.
I consider it an essential part of my Marketing Funnel, one where I get out from behind my laptop and into the real world.
Although I don’t always see an immediate return on investment like I do with other ‘fast-lane’ marketing strategies, there are numerous other benefits to being a curator of events. Including;
Social media shares
Photos and video footage captured
Brings your brand to life
Keeps you relevant
Positions you as an expert and curator
A few other reasons that I love hosting IRL events…
1. Stand Out as an Expert, a Giver and a Connector
Truth is… Most of your peers aren’t willing to host these events. By stepping up, you position yourself as the go-to expert in your field and within your community. Also, ‘life gives to the giver’ (one of my favourite quotes) and I’ve seen this play out time and time again.
2. Build Stronger Connections
Meeting people in person makes a lasting impression. The energy and emotion you exchange face-to-face is far more impactful than what can be achieved through screens or social media (I know it’s not what you want to hear, but it’s true).
This helps you build the “know, like, and trust” factor with people more quickly, and shorten the sales cycle.
3. Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
For many online entrepreneurs, it’s uncomfortable to step out from behind the screen and engage with the real world. I get it, because I feel the same way!
However, if you can’t sell to your local market, how do you expect to sell globally? Mastering local sales is a crucial first step to validating your idea, and making an impact within 100 mile radius around you.
