We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kelly Ann Gorman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kelly Ann thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One deeply underappreciated facet of entrepreneurship is the kind of crazy stuff we have to deal with as business owners. Sometimes it’s crazy positive, sometimes it’s crazy negative, but crazy experiences unite entrepreneurs regardless of industry. Can you share a crazy story with our readers?
I have been writing, recording, producing, and developing a variety of podcasts since 2017. I host The Kelly Ann Cares Podcast (launched in 2017) which is syndicated to all podcasting platforms, YouTube, and currently heard in almost 100 countries. I started from the ground up and have taught myself everything I know.
My podcasting journey started unlike any other. I launched my show when I did because I was told I had MS and NMO. Two diseases where the result could leave me blind and paralyzed. At the end of the day, I knew I had to use my voice to help other patients searching for positive advocacy content. I also knew that a podcast would be something I could monetize.
Luckily, I was misdiagnosed with both diseases and have been living a happier, healthier, more posItive, and productive life since. That whole story can be found on the podcast. It was intense to say the least.
After launching my own show, I was asked by other online business owners and colleagues how I did it? I then created a complete done for you service for other like-minded podcasters.
I have been an entrepreneur my whole life. My wheels are always spinning. What can I do next to help others get organized, and level up personally and professionally? One of the reasons why I wrote my book, Everything is Messy.
I strive to put more good work and content into the world daily through the building of podcasts and brands for my clients.
Kelly Ann, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an Entrepreneur, Patient Advocate, Seasoned Podcaster and Developer, Published Author, and Business and Life Coach. I create programs, products and services that help elevate your mind, upgrade your business, enhance your life, and welcome you into a positive and uplifting community.
I am obsessed with iced coffee, creating healthy recipes, and all things productivity and organization, as you may have seen all over my social channels.
I help business owners organize their space, build momentum, stay accountable, launch podcasts, grow successful brands, and most importantly, enjoy their life.
I have always taken a more personal approach to business. I continuously use my expertise, personality, and knowledge to help others build their brands. Through my book, Everything is Messy, the Kelly Ann Cares Podcast, Everything is Messy Collection, and my Entrepreneur and Brand Coaching Experiences.
Inspiration, motivation, determination, and a never-give-up attitude are what got me to where I am today. My passion and dream are to help as many individuals as I can get to where they want to be, both personally and professionally.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I found out I was misdiagnosed with two diseases that were to lead me to become blind and paralyzed there were no attorneys who would take my case. Three reasons being I was still alive, not missing a limb, and hooked up to a breathing machine.
So, I took matters into my own hands and studied the medical malpractice laws for Nevada.
I then represented myself in six medical malpractice legal cases and closed them all in the middle of the pandemic in eighteen months.
That was one of the hardest times of my life, but I powered through. I literally did the jobs of six attorneys, six paralegals, and six investigators. I never gave up because I knew that if I was strong enough to get a second chance at life I was here to help advocate for more patients. This entire story can be heard on the Kelly Ann Cares Podcast.
Have you ever had to pivot?
When I found out I was sick with MS and NMO I had to close the doors of my luxury travel business I was running in Las Vegas. Running around Sin City and greeting private aircrafts was no longer in the cards for someone who could become blind and paralyzed at any given moment.
I brought all my business experience online and started business, LinkedIn, and podcasting programs for other small business owners and entrepreneurs.
When the pandemic happened, this scenario played out again. Business owners had to pivot and learn how to do business in ways they never thought. Lucky for me I had already experienced this and was able to help others monetize in new ways as we expanded and grew their online businesses and podcasts into all new global markets.
