Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kelli Cooke. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kelli, appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I have always loved reading, to me there is nothing like soaking up a cozy romance or diving into a book that makes you feel. But I also have always had a passion for romanticizing life and part of that means leaning into my creative abilities and taking on new projects like writing a novel. When I started this journey to become an author, I did it because I wanted to bring others joy, help them navigate difficult times throughout life, and provide a realistic viewpoint on love. Other than that, I basically just jumped in with both feet and my laptop to write.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a corporate girl who writes vibrant, funny, and authentic love stories. As a hopeless romantic, I strives to bring a creative twist on what love looks like in real life infused with the kind of comedy that will keep you laughing long after finishing my books. While comedy is the star I also focus on threading in raw emotion and hope to impact hearts for years to come.
When I’m not writing, I can be found chasing around my two kids or binge watching a show with my husband. I never expected to become an author but I’ve embraced harnessing this creative ability and I adore sharing my stories with readers.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The biggest resource that I wish I knew when I was starting out was simply the community of other authors that exists on social media. I had no clue that there was such an overwhelmingly supportive group of people who would cheer me on, offer advice, and even help with details through beta reading, proof reading, etc. As I have grown this business and made new friends it has become so apparent that while being an independent author is challenging to navigate at times, it also doesn’t have to be done in a vacuum. I would encourage new authors to get out there and network, make the friends, talk to others, and lean into those that have come before you.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an author is watching my work bring others joy. Coincidentally Kismet, my debut novel, covers some difficult topics and how they pertain to our service members in the military. Tackling those topics was challenging but also necessary and the reward I feel when a military spouse, family member, or even a service member themselves reaches out to tell me how seen they feel… there is nothing better.
