Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keithm McClinton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, Keithm thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

I’ve always pushed myself to accomplish any goals I wanted complete. Ever since I was young, there was always a passion inside of me that gave me the courage I need to achieve my dreams. Starting with dancing, my first love and the first gift I discovered. While attending an after school program, I began dancing with the older students, leading the instructor, Ms. Beyince to want to travel and dance in Spain. But because I was so young, my Mom didn’t want me to go so far away. But I kept dancing! And that would become a part of my future: as I ended up dancing for Chicago radio station, WGCI, Out of 300 people, I became one of the 12. We’ve done shows throughout Chicago for a few years before disbanding. Growing up, Music has always been an aspiration of mine. So much that my Mom got my a keyboard for Christmas, leading me to teach myself how to play and write my own music.

While in high school, A friend of mine told me about a band needing a keyboard player. And though I wasnt as skilled as the other members, I auditioned for them and made it in the band. Learning and growing as a “now” musician, I gained the confidence to pursue a solo career, which lead me to Bang Productions as a Studio Assistant. Being there gave me more insight on mixing and mastering. Also got me involved in radio and TV commericals. After that, because I felt I wanted to grow more, I moved to New York City, worked two jobs until I got hired as a singing waiter at a nightclub in the West Village. I moved out there with one the last checks I received from a Coca Cola commercial.

After moving back to Chicago, a friend of mine told me to an opportunity to be a background actor. So I became involved in that. And still currently film with the same Casting company., since 2017. When the writers’ strike happened, I had to find another job leading me to Live Nation (Currently working) and also I currently at Soldier Field. The whole goal is to Take More Chances on yourself! If one door closes, Find another door….You Are The Key!!!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Its all about finding your Passion, Having the confidence I yourself and Go For it! Everything that I have achieved has been because I never gave up. Though I have a lot of industry friends, its all about staying in your own lane. The right people will find you. As a music artist, Ive done shows in Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Minnesota and more, Meeting other performers helped me to connect with various artists from various genre. That’s what it takes!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Just a little personal insight about me. Even though, I danced, been in a band, did commercials, movies and tv shows: Nothing could prepare me for my Biggest challenges. In 2006, my brother found me on the bathroom, My kidneys shut down, ERSD! I was a goner until he found me. After 8 1/2 years on dialysis, I received a kidney donated by a mom who was killed in car accident the day. With this happening, it gave me Patience, Unerstanding and Compassion for people, Also this past year, I had to undergo two months of Chemo and radiation for cancer cells found after a surgery. That wasn’t Easy! But because of what I went through with dialysis, I was able to understand exactly what I had to do and follow up on appointments. As of today, There is No cancer in my body…And Thank God for Everything, Everyday!!!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Point, Blank, Period….I want to show people that; As long as you have a goal or dream that you want to pursue, GO FOR IT!!!!
