We were lucky to catch up with Kate Boggs recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kate, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I love what I do. Truly, madly, and deeply. It makes me happier beyond what I thought I could be. As far as whether I ever daydream about what it would be like to have a regular job? Yes, don’t we all? I would be lying if I said I didn’t think about a stable paycheck. However, what a priceless privilege that I am deemed an artist who sees the beauty in the everyday. That I view things through a lens and produce art that adorns the walls of so many. Whenever I get the itch to apply for a 9 to 5, I sit with what it is that’s missing, and I try to capture that in art form. Or I head out and create, and I remember why I picked up a camera at all. It was, and always will be, to capture the fleeting, priceless moments that can’t be replicated.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Kate Boggs, and I’m a natural light photographer based in Tampa, Florida. I’ve been running Kate Boggs Photography since 2012, and honestly, picking up a camera changed the entire trajectory of my life. And it all happened because I had my son and I wanted to capture everything about his childhood.
I didn’t go to school for photography. My path into this industry was anything but linear. I wore a lot of hats over the years, but photography was always the thing that pulled me back. It started as a passion, and over time it became my calling.
I specialize in maternity and family photography, capturing authentic, golden hour moments with a warm, editorial style. My editing leans warm and rich, and I want every image to feel like a memory you can step back into.
What sets me apart? I think it’s the way I see people. I’m not just taking pictures. I’m capturing the in-between moments, the messy, beautiful, real ones that you’ll look back on in twenty years and be so grateful you held onto. I bring an eye for beauty in the everyday, and I think my clients feel that energy when they work with me.
What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’m still here, still creating, still showing up after over a decade in this business. I’ve built this from the ground up while raising kids, juggling multiple jobs, and figuring it out as I go. I chose the word ‘Relentless’ as my word for 2026, and I mean it. I want my clients and followers to know that when you book with me, you’re not just getting a photographer. You’re getting someone who genuinely cares about preserving your story, someone who sees the magic in your life even when you might not.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Oh, this is a fun one. I made my Instagram back in 2013. I grew my following because I didn’t hide things. I spoke openly about anxiety. I was honest and transparent with both clients and followers.
I’ll be really transparent here, mainly because I was just talking to my best friend Kayla about this today. You need to adjust with the times. You have to give in and accept that you need to do more than just produce. You are the face, voice, artist, manager, secretary, marketer, and every tiny little job in between. You can’t just decide your role stops at artist. It doesn’t quite work like that, unfortunately.
So my advice is this: you aren’t just an artist. You’re everything. Put your life out there because people relate to that. Showcase the behind the scenes because it makes people feel like they’re in the trenches with you. Clients book you and follow you based on YOU. Lean into that. And don’t niche down right away. Figure out what works for you and your followers, and then lean into that. But in order to do that, you need to put yourself out there. Be brave

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Oh gosh, if I can say anything, it would be to recommend and refer us to anyone and everyone. Let us shine our camera on the beauty of the people closest to you. Follow us, comment, share, and like our posts. It’s free to you, and it is like giving a sweet little compliment to us. It makes us feel all warm and fuzzy while also showcasing that you appreciate what we do! I promise it always comes back to you. The more you book us and refer us, the more likely we are to offer incentives or a thank you to you, our clients! I know personally, I offer a client’s entire gallery free to returning clients as a thank you after so many bookings with me
