We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kassondra Flynn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kassondra below.
Alright, Kassondra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
I do multiple craft shows a year, and one way I try to stand out and be memorable is with my bags. When a customer buys and item from my I always want to make sure something additional is included for them. So in each of my bags I have 2-3 stickers with inspirational quotes, and my card in there. Sometimes if I am extra low on a particular item or something isn’t selling I will include in the first 5 customers bags as an additional thank you. One of my most recent items were Bobby bins. I had someone reach out to me after, thanking me for the extra gift. Going that little extra mile really makes a difference with my customers.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Kassondra. I am from and live in Michigan. I started LeaRe Co back during the pandemic as away to help with my anxiety. Keeping myself busy is away I can relax. I started with some clay my aunt had given me but found my love for resin and leather instead. Now a days there are so many individuals who are working with clay but not a ton working with resin or leather and I love that sets me apart from the rest. Not only do I make jewelry but I have recently started making car freshies. I love a good smelling car but I don’t love all the chemicals that come with the ones from the store, and so I worked to start making my own chemically free fresheners. It has been so much fun for me. It’s another way I get to be creative and relate to my home state with that business titled MIFreshies. I relate my smells to those that are my favorite from around home. I love being able to just escape and create for others.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I would say that I get most of my clients from the shows I do. I get to meet, talk with and interact with so many different individuals at these shows. It is great finding connections with them such as what they like, don’t like. What I can improve on. I have a sign up that allows them to scan my instagram page and Facebook page allowing them to stay up to date on my where about and my latest creations.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
That it is not a competition. Sometimes owning a business can feel a little like high school all over again. Cliques, mean girls, people talking bad about you. That can pull at you. But I’ve learned that when owning a small business if someone is going to negatively talk about you then it’s not worth having them pretend to support you either. I work hard for what I do, and I try to be as supportive to others as I can. But I have l learned the hard way that not everyone will support me and that’s okay. I rather have really people supporting me along my journey.
