We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Karlos Galvan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Karlos, thanks for joining us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?
The purpose and reason behind starting GoTribe fitness is the mission I had to create a more personal fitness experience. I truly believe in results through relationships. There are so many people who want to get in shape but struggle with feeling intimidated and not knowing where to start. GoTribe is an all inclusive community that allows people to feel comfortable and educate themselves on the why behind the what when it comes to their personal fitness goals. Most importantly we help people to never fail at fitness again.

Karlos, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Growing up I played sports my entire life and with that came learning the challenges of weight fluctuation depending on the sports I played and that really piqued my interest into the fitness world. My fitness career began in 2007 while working in corporate fitness. I developed a passion within the fitness industry while seeing the impact I was able to make on others. I saw a big need for more relationship-based results versus transactional results. Within personal training specifically the average personal trainer lasts an average of 12 months in a corporate setting. I wanted to create a career vs a job because high turn over can lead to failed results. At GoTribe Fitness some of the issues that we have solved is creating more of a career driven company by offering our trainers continued education, benefits, and competitive compensation. It has allowed us to have lower turn over and more sustainable results with clients due to relationship building. We offer small group training, one-on-one training, online training and health coaching. I am most proud of seeing my team continue to thrive as professionals, our members continuing to achieve sustainable results and maintaining over a 90% retention rate over the last 7 years.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
During the Pandemic the biggest struggle was the unknown of; staying within local guidelines, when could we begin to operate in-person, will our members continue to be members, there was just so much left to the unknown and I contemplated the future of GoTribe numerous times. I didn’t know if we would continue being in business. It taught me to quickly pivot from in-person to online, it’s something that we had always done as a company but more than ever, we focused on daily accountability, help with nutrition, stress and sleep management and heart rate base training to continue keeping our members engaged and help them effectively achieve their results. Maintaining our member relationships is what helped us stay in business and grow the business. During a time of uncertainty. we remained the constant in our members lives.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Our best source of new clients is from our existing clients. The importance of results and relationships goes such a long way for us, not only for retaining our business but also growing it. Our members see the value in what we do and that has single handily helped us multiple our business since 2020.
