We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kari Hall a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kari, thanks for joining us today. Day to day the world can seem like a tough place, but there’s also so much kindness in the world and we think talking about that kindness helps spread it and make the world a nicer, kinder place. Can you share a story of a time when someone did something really kind for you?
When I was 23 years old, I started working for an Occupational Therapist at her private practice. I worked hard for her and she mentored and coached me. After 2-3years she decided to go into the field of research and said “if you want all the bills and responsibility that comes with it, this practice is yours. She walked out and kept the practice. I now have 10 employees, 2 offices and after almost 40 years a very successful Pediatrics Occupational Therapy Practice

Kari, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a colorado native. I went to college at Colorado State University to become an Occupational Therapist and University of Denver for my masters degree. I knew I always wanted to be a pediatric therapist. I always enjoyed mentoring and babysitting younger kids.
I am the Proud owner operator of a pediatric occupational therapy practice with two offices and 10 employees. I most proud of how I train all my treating therapist to keep therapy at a high quality and very consistent. I am also very proud how we help families and their children live a fulfilling and fun filled life. It amazing to think how many lives we have positively affected through the years.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I think our resilience happened most when the Global pandemic hit. I was on a family vacation with my family when the pandemic shut everything down. I had to get home quickly, problem solved with our staff how to keep families safe and their treatment going at the same time. We did telehealth for a couple months but then figured how what safety measure to put in place so that the children could return to the office. All and all I was able to keep all my staff and 85% of our families in treatment all through the pandemic.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think our our reputation was built through the years but doing thorough evaluations and meetings following the evaluations to help educated our parents. But I think very thorough training of my therapist before they are allowed to treat in the office makes sure that our individuality and creativity comes through but that we are all on the same page with our overall same path that matches our overall company ideology.
