We recently connected with Ka’imi Kuoha and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ka’imi, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Martial arts has been in my blood and my destiny since before I was born, to say it’s second nature would be an understatement. My Father is the head of a Kempo organization & my Mother a black belt in the arts.
The world of film and theater were also introduced to me at the age of 3 years old where I landed my very first speaking role as well as my Screen Actors Guild membership along side of George Clooney, before he became “George Clooney”
Because of my diverse background and meeting people from all walks of life, I have a passion to learn from others. Taking what works for my body/lifestyle & throwing out the rest. I believe the best way to develop an understanding for the art of learning, is to study and practice until you reach a very high level in a skill, and then practice again! It’s not just learned by reading, but applying every single day.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Ka’imi Kuoha
martial artist, fight choreographer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. I started my career as an actress and martial artist in 1986, and have since discovered my passion for teaching, entrepreneurship, & wellness. Fun Fact: I hold the female world record for ice breaking, demonstrating the art of Ki “internal power” breaking 1500 lbs. with my elbow.
I am passionate about empowering women through self-defense and internal power. I’ve created a female-centered program that motivates women to achieve their personal best in all aspects of life. This program is called Power of KI.
“Harmony in Chaos” is a new venture vlog-style podcast that I am hosting with my dear friend and colleague Tiffany Ablola. We create a space about connecting peace and acceptance between our mind & body, and how to find a greater inner harmony. This internal peace is a key focus in a martial arts mindset that applies to both the personal and professional lifestyle. Our mission is to bring it to all aspects of life, on and off the mat. We share ideas and information to help embrace the harmony in chaos that is life. Our goal is to provide our audience with tools and stories that will generate energy and inspiration.
When I’m not teaching or training, I spend my time outdoors with the family, traveling & filming with my partner for Othentik Productions.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The process of creating art is a learning process that has continued my entire career and still today. For me, it’s about enjoying the journey and bringing my loved ones along right beside me. There is something truly special about witnessing my own growth as a creative and seeing those around me being inspired to create their own paths as well.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Build Unity! I’ll tell you why it’s so important. Building common ground among other creatives is critical to a thriving arts and cultural ecosystem. As the old adage goes, “United We Stand, Divided We Fall.” Helping everyone understand how they relate to one another, rather than compete with one another, is an important step, especially when resources are infinite!
I love to collaborate and learn from others, it builds trust, breeds confidence & abundance for all. Collaborating and communicating with others will not only result in a stronger arts and cultural community, but a less isolated one.

Ka’imi, it warms my heart to see what a wonderful woman you have become. I knew from the start your future would be filled with wonderful adventures and your endevors would contribute to creating a better world for all around you. I often reflect on how well you handled your talents even as a young child. You had many friends in school, not because of your accomplishments, but because of your warm and accepting personality. You valued your friends and people who interacted with you. You make the world a brighter place!
