We were lucky to catch up with Kadin Nutt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kadin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear from you about what you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry and why it matters.
Many of the companies that artists and creatives heavily rely on for resources, opportunity, exposure, and more have put a very large emphasis on trends and monetary value rather than the authenticity, truth, love, and courage that fosters so much of the beauty we see in our world today.
A lot of these companies are run by business professionals and individuals who do not quite understand the power and significance that art truly holds, which in my opinion is very problematic.
Business is about people and there is a large population of people, in this case artists, whose needs aren’t being met. Maybe monetary success is being met, but at what cost? Oftentimes, it’s the manipulation of those we should be serving.
Artists need a space where they can be free, not play by a set of rules. The art is what changes the world, not the trends and amounts of profit it generates. I think we often have it the other way around.
I’d love to see more artistically driven individuals step up and start these organizations that we need, of course only If they feel it in their hearts to do so. There’s an amazing opportunity for us to drive innovation toward creative necessity and be of service to those who truly need us. Im extremely humbled at the opportunity to do so and just hope I can make a difference!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Kadin Nutt and I am a Entrepreneur and Creative Writer from the Bay Area. I am an artist at heart, usually led by my curiosity, vision, and empathy to create things that hopefully make an impact on the world. I’ve recently transitioned from being a student-athlete to a student-entrepreneur to dedicate my full commitment to chasing my dreams. I find the most fulfillment and purpose in creating things that not only myself, but others can benefit from. Connecting with someone on their healing journey through my art and literature. Taking a vision, and building an organization that solves a problem. To me, it is fascinating how having the courage to chase your own dreams and walk your own unique path can in turn affect the lives of many others. Simply put, this is what wakes me up in the morning. This is my purpose. This is why I believe I am here!
Today I am the Founder and CEO of Dream Art Industries, a community-driven resource for emerging artists to network, get discovered, and find opportunities. Dream Art provides networking tools, exposure, and a safe space for aspiring artists to dream. We aim to be the middleman between those who bring creativity, magic, and beauty into our world and the next big connection and opportunity that aligns with their creative gifts, goals, and dreams. My Co-Founder, Dexyra Nolasco, and I have been working for just over 3 years building and planning to bring something we believe to be monumental to the world, a company built on the belief that creative careers are a necessity and driving force within our society. We are extremely excited to soon bring our MVP product to market, an online community for artists to interact, showcase themselves, establish relationships, and find opportunities. With a free subscription, we hope to build relationships with our users, make the necessary changes, and add awesome features based on their needs and feedback.
We envision a more practical world for young artists, where those with creative gifts have the chance to pursue their calling. Our services are also 100% geared towards the needs of our creative community. We believe this will bring the monetary success we hope for, and if not, are willing to take the risk for the sake and well-being of our artists who we hold close to our hearts. Young people, students, and aspiring artists are often advised to pursue anything but an art-focused career, but our community will provide a safe space for artists to connect and thrive in a world where the odds are often against them.
We hope and encourage you to join us at our upcoming launch party and other events thrown throughout the year! Follow us on social media (we follow artists back) to stay updated!
You can also expect to see my name at the bottom of a book as an author and in your film credits as a screenwriter in the near and long-term future. My debut book, “Dear Dreamer, I Wo/ander,” will hopefully be published by the end of the year.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Raising the funds to start Dream Art was extremely challenging and certainly tested my commitment. I recently worked as a part-time brand ambassador at Polo Ralph Lauren. Every 2 weeks, a larger portion than I’m willing to admit was going toward startup costs. Let’s just say that on paper it would be a very bad financial decision and most people would think I was crazy! They’re probably right!
My Co-Founder is no better and was working 3 jobs yet remained committed to building a startup. Entrepreneurship is often romanticized but there are usually many hardships, tough decisions, and sacrifices that will need to be made. You must know what you’re getting into and still be crazy enough to believe in your idea, your team, and yourself.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
This will sound cliché but the greatest reward of being an artist or creative is that itself! I’ve learned to be humble and grateful for wherever my creativity takes me, and accept however the world perceives it. I recently wrote a excerpt for a novel I hope to one day complete,
“Perhaps the humility to accept that art may be a complete nonessential is essential. We are not feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, or funding the poor.”
Instead, I believe that art is a gift. A bonus to reality. The substance of life. Color, texture, harmony. Beauty, imagination, and emotion.
Perhaps creative expression is instead a great escape. A ticket to the unordinary. A gateway into the unknown. A permission to dream.
Perhaps it is instead a place where our eyes are opened in the least likely way. Where we discover the love, hope, and inspiration necessary to live.
Maybe it’s the reason a poem, film, or song can leave our faces in tears, our hearts in admiration, our souls in utter bliss. Revealing how in one way or another, we are all connected.
Maybe my art is not a necessity but also completely necessary. Maybe it is and isn’t. Perhaps it is meaningless but also meaningful. This and also that. Everything and nothing at all.”
I believe the most significant thing about creating is having no expectations at all, and simply letting creativity do as it pleases. This usually works wonders that are far out of our control. Maybe it moves a few people, and disgusts a few others. In the end, success will always be upon its creation and the right audience will reap its benefits if you are brave enough to share it with the world!
