Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Julie Losole. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Julie, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Absolutely! I couldn’t be happier with my decision to own my own business. Honestly, I don’t think I could ever go back to working a “regular job” again. Taking this leap was the biggest chance I could ever take on myself, and it’s been the most fulfilling journey.
I’ve been drawn to crystals since I was a child, collecting them long before I understood the energy that attracted me to them. As I delved deeper into my spiritual practices, I realized how strongly I could feel energy—I often joke that I can feel someone’s presence before I even see them.
Working as the General Manager of our family’s restaurant for 30 years taught me the value of hard work and dedication. But even after starting my independent bookkeeping business two years before the restaurant closed (which I still maintain with a couple of clients), I felt that something was missing. There was a deep longing within me to help others on their own journeys of healing and spiritual discovery.
When friends suggested that downtown Omaha could use a “rock shop,” I initially thought they were crazy. But when I saw the space, they were talking about, something clicked. I thought to myself, “Why not?” I realized this was my opportunity to create something unique—something that isn’t just another store in town but a place of education, guidance, and support for people, particularly women, on their spiritual journeys.
As a Reiki Master, sound healer, crystal enthusiast, and shaman, I thrive on working with nature, herbs, crystals, sound, and energy. The fulfillment I get from this work far surpasses anything I could find in a “regular job.” I’ve found my purpose, and I’m passionate about helping others find theirs.

Julie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Julie Losole, and I’m the proud owner of The Crystal Passage, a crystal shop located in downtown Omaha. My journey into this industry began long before I ever imagined it would become my life’s work. From a young age, I was drawn to crystals, collecting them without fully understanding the powerful energies they held. As I grew older and delved deeper into spirituality, I realized that I have a unique ability to feel and work with energy—something that has shaped my path profoundly.
Working in our family restaurant for 30 years is where I learned the true meaning of hard work and dedication. But despite the fulfillment I found in helping to run a beloved local business, I always felt there was something more for me. About two years before the restaurant closed, I started my own independent bookkeeping business, which I still operate today. Yet, even then, I knew something was missing. I had a deep, almost instinctual desire to help others on their journeys of healing and spiritual discovery.
When the opportunity to open a crystal shop in downtown Omaha presented itself, I felt a calling I couldn’t ignore. I wanted to create a space that was more than just a store—I wanted to build a community where people could learn, heal, and grow. The Crystal Passage was born out of this vision, and today, it’s a place where people can find not only crystals but also guidance and support on their spiritual journeys.
At The Crystal Passage, we offer a wide range of products, including crystals, incense, self-care items, jewelry, meditation supplies, and more. But what truly sets us apart is the personalized services we provide. As a Usi Holy Fire Reiki Master, Animal Reiki Master, sound healer, crystal enthusiast, and shaman, I offer Reiki sessions, sound healing, spiritual coaching, and shamanic healing. I also host full moon circles, where we come together to celebrate and harness the powerful energy of the moon. These circles are a blend of ceremony, ritual, and community, where we explore somatic dance, fire ceremonies, and more.
What makes The Crystal Passage unique is our commitment to education and empowerment. I’m passionate about helping people—especially women—discover their own power and potential through spiritual practices. Whether it’s through a Reiki session, a sound bath, or simply guiding someone to the right crystal, my goal is to support others on their journey to healing and self-discovery.
I’m incredibly proud of the community we’ve built at The Crystal Passage. It’s not just a shop; it’s a sanctuary where people can come to find peace, clarity, and connection. I want potential clients and customers to know that when they walk through our doors, they’re stepping into a space that’s dedicated to their well-being. We’re here to help, guide, and support you every step of the way, whether you’re just starting your spiritual journey or have been on this path for years.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the most significant pivots in my life happened when my family decided to close our restaurant, Lo Sole Mio, after 30 years in business. As the General Manager, I had dedicated my life to helping run the restaurant, and it was a huge part of my identity. When my parents retired and we made the decision to close, I found myself at a crossroads. I knew I had the skills and experience to continue in the restaurant industry or expand my independent bookkeeping business, which I had started a couple of years prior. However, I felt a deep sense of unfulfillment—a feeling that there was something more I was meant to do.
It was during this time of uncertainty that my daughter, Jessie, and I began to explore a new path together. Jessie had worked with me at the restaurant and continued to support me in my bookkeeping business. When the opportunity to open a crystal shop in downtown Omaha presented itself, we both felt a calling to create something special. Jessie’s passion and dedication have been instrumental from the very beginning—she helped me start The Crystal Passage, and we’ve built this business together.
This pivot wasn’t just about changing careers; it was about embracing who we are at our core. For me, it was also about making sure Jessie’s contributions were recognized. Jessie’s hard work and dedication are a big part of what makes The Crystal Passage what it is today, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together.
The Crystal Passage is the result of this pivotal moment, and it has allowed us to step into our true callings. Together, we’ve created a space where people can find healing, guidance, and community. This experience has reminded me that sometimes the most significant growth comes from stepping into the unknown, trusting the process, and recognizing the importance of those who walk alongside you.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the most profound lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that success is defined by external achievements rather than by inner fulfillment. For much of my life, I thought that if I worked hard and accomplished a lot, I would feel successful. But as I delved deeper into my spiritual journey, I realized that true success is about alignment with your inner self and living a life that resonates with your soul’s purpose.
My spiritual journey began with a deep curiosity about crystals and energy work. I had always been drawn to them, even as a child, but it wasn’t until later in life that I understood why. As I began to explore these practices more seriously, I realized that I was tapping into something much deeper—a connection with the energies around me and within myself. This connection brought me a sense of peace and fulfillment that I had never experienced before, even with all my accomplishments in the business world.
The more I engaged with my spiritual practices, the more I had to confront the old beliefs that no longer served me. I had to unlearn the idea that my worth was tied to how much I could achieve in a traditional sense. Instead, I learned to value the inner growth, the healing, and the guidance I could offer to others through my spiritual work.
When Jessie and I opened The Crystal Passage, it was a culmination of this journey. We didn’t just want to create another business; we wanted to build a space where people could find healing, guidance, and community. This shift in focus—from external success to inner fulfillment—has been one of the most important lessons of my life.
Unlearning those old beliefs allowed me to embrace my true calling and find success in a way that feels deeply aligned with who I am. It’s a lesson that has transformed not only my approach to business but also how I live my life each day.
