Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Julani Everett. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Julani, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

The first time I knew that I wanted to pursue a creative / artistic path professionally Is when I was around the ages 15 – 16 which I wanted to start my own clothing brand ,but I knew that it was something that I wanted to do later when I had the money . I was also making art at this time but it was very dark because I was going through a little rough patch, so I didn’t want to show people my artwork. But I also wanted to build a community with people that was about art, fashion, and creativity So as time went by and I was 17- 19 I started to get happier and try more color In my art and it was helping for a little but it was hard so I stopped . By this point I wanted to show my art off but I was scared to hear what people would say about it. At 19 is when I started to show my artwork to my family and even people that I worked with. The reviews were good , but I was in my head thinking ” they just saying it because they know me ” or even ” they are just being nice ” .That was a issue that I had to overcome and ever since then it has been something that I have grown to love to show people my art. Now I’m 21 and still doing art on the side but it definitely is something that I work on little by little to get one of my many dreams of being a creative/ Artistic person .

Julani, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Hello, my name is Julani and my brand is FearingTheMask. I been drawing for a couple years now and it all started while being in class bored. now in days I do a little of everything from drawing, getting BTS ,making clothes and make art for a clothing brand marketing . fearingthemask is all about being scared to show your self but still wanting to be fly , and I came up with this because I have anxiety so I know that it can be hard to want to put on a fly fit and not feel like your on a stage with the lights on you . I do work a 9-5 so it can be hard sometimes to be where I want be in this art world and even tiring but at the end of the day I just want a community where people can be fly and put art together and make something that the world hasn’t seen just yet. If this is your first time hearing about me thank you for taking the time to learn about me and my brand.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding part about being a creative person ,is thinking of drawing something or making something being made right in front of your eyes. like seeing the pencil make something come to life when you thought it might not be possible but it turns out so much better with all the effect that you put into said thing .

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

so originally my brand name was DreaminWorld and that felt right at the time because a lot of my drawing felt dreamlike, but as time went by I felt like it wasn’t who I was and I feel like that is the most important. And also it just didn’t work with the workflow I wanted to have and even the logos. so I came up with FearingTheMask and ever since then it just has felt right .
