We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful JP Saleeby. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with JP below.
JP, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
While working in the ER, I realized I was in the wrong medical Specialty. I learned up on Functional, Holistic and Integrative medicine, opened up my own private practice and retired from Emergency Medicine.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I am the founder and owner of Carolina Holistic Medicine where I see patients for acute and chronic problems. COVID related (LongCOVID), Lyme disease and imbalances with hormones are my strong point. We have a total of five clinicians (MD, PA, FNP) to help manage patient volume. We spend an hour or more with our patients per visit and do Zoom calls as well all over the USA.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Taught to be cold and unattached in my medical training, when I transitioned to Functional Medicine solo practice I had to unlearn that behavior and embrace each patient as an individual person. Better for everyone.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back, I would have started with FxMed and not a 17 year career (first career) in Emergency and Urgent Care medicine.
