Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jowand Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jowand, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
One of my life changing risks was leaving a barber shop surrounded around seven other great barbers to open my first studio at Sola Salons located on south side of Savannah. At first I was scared because I didn’t know how things were going to go, but I had faith and prayed everyday about it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I first got into this industry at the age of 12 years old working as a sweep boy at Holmes Barbershop. As I watched the barbers, I grew an interest and began learning how to cut.
Outside of the barbershop, my grandfather who was the owner of a nightclub, also inspired me to become a business owner. I spent a lot of time observing and gaining a lot of knowledge from him. His entrepreneurship made a huge impact on my life.
Therefore, as of today I’m a full service Master Barber, which I am most proud of. My services include hair coloring, men replacement units and facials, just to name a few.
Services are offered by appointment only which is a big problem solver for clients that prefer to be serviced immediately upon arrival.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Getting to know my clients and seeing what they like. Not what I like

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I have a booking app that I used that’s call the Thecutapp that’s work really good for me.
