We recently connected with Joseph Gatzby and have shared our conversation below.
Joseph , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
As an emerging talent in the film industry, I believe that success as an Actor in the entertainment world hinges on a combination of perseverance, networking, and seizing opportunities. Drawing from my own experiences and interactions, I’ve experienced first hand, the importance of forging connections and continuously honing one’s craft.
I’ll give you a glimpse into what I’m saying. In 2020, during Grammy week, I found myself working as a chauffeur for the esteemed American singer-songwriter and record producer, MALI MUSIC, who was a guest of honor. While behind the wheel, I didn’t just drive. Nah, I engaged with MALI MUSIC, fostering a genuine connection and friendship that is still going today. We locked in 4 life. Thats My Guy! He introduced me to so many people at every function we attended and I did what I do best. Be Me! My approach is to network and seize the opportunity to establish meaningful relationships even in unexpected circumstances.

Joseph , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
From a young age, I started off being a fan of movies, TV shows, and the stories within them. After living in London for four years, I was inspired to start my journey as an actor and move to Atlanta. I started off as a background actor in a few Tyler Perry films. I took a trip to LA for New Year and started to pursue acting heavily by joining Tasha Smith’s Actors workshop called TSAW. I researched the steps that it would take to get myself in front of an agent. That includes headshots, creating a resume, and actively pursuing roles. After moving back to Atlanta I landed a few roles in short films and started to work at my craft. In doing so I bumped into an old friend that wanted to know if I was available to work on an episodic she was creating. That led to me joining a workshop, and from there my agent discovered me. Since then I’ve auditioned for some of the biggest shows, including Ozark, BMF, and Cobra Kai to name a few.
What sets me apart from everyone else is my belief in my mission. I feel as though this is my destiny. Not trying to force anything its truly what I feel inspired to do and it brings me peace & good vibes. Also the power of being present and having good energy, highlights the importance of putting oneself out there and seizing every chance to showcase talent.
Recently, I landed a starring role in an episode of “Fatal Attraction” Season 14, titled “A Hunted Heart,” portraying the character Tony Taylor. This serves as a testament to my unwavering commitment to my craft. Through persistence, strategic networking, and seizing opportunities, I will continue to carve out a path to success in the competitive landscape of the film industry.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
From a young kid my goal has always been to help the Orphans. Just always had a soft spot for those who don’t have people in there life to help guide them because I was so lost when I was young without a Father etc. Want to give back to help not only people that look like me but all in need.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me its Legacy. The opportunity to leave art behind to inspire the next generation! The chance to leave behind resources that can take care of loved ones, friends and even strangers in need of help.
