We recently connected with Jordan Smith and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
Absolutely, our business serves an underserved community: tall women. Tall women often face significant challenges when it comes to finding clothing that fits properly. Most mainstream brands do not cater to the unique proportions of tall women, leading to frustration and limited choices.
Imagine the frustration of walking into a store and finding that almost none of the clothes fit your body properly. This is a common experience for many tall women. Standard clothing sizes often have inseams that are too short, sleeves that don’t reach the wrists, and torsos that are too short, leaving tall women with ill-fitting and uncomfortable clothing options. This lack of availability not only affects their comfort but also their confidence and sense of style.
Clothing is more than just fabric; it’s a form of self-expression and confidence. When tall women are forced to compromise on style and fit, it affects their self-esteem and how they present themselves to the world. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable and confident in what they wear, and tall women are no exception. Addressing this need is crucial for fostering inclusivity and ensuring that all women, regardless of their height, have access to stylish and well-fitting clothing.
One of our customers, standing at 6’2″, had always struggled to find pants that were long enough and stylish enough for her taste. She discovered The Elevated Closet and found our pants to be a perfect fit, with plenty of length and comfort. She was so thrilled with the quality and fit of our clothing that she became a loyal customer, expanding her wardrobe with our pieces and feeling more confident than ever.
Her story is not unique; many of our customers share similar experiences. They express relief and joy at finally finding a brand that understands their needs and provides stylish, high-quality options. We are proud to serve this underserved community and to help tall women feel confident and stylish every day.
By focusing on the specific needs of tall women, The Elevated Closet is not just a clothing brand; it’s a movement towards greater inclusivity and empowerment in fashion. We believe that every woman deserves to look and feel her best, and we’re committed to making that a reality for tall women everywhere.

Jordan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Jordan Adams-Smith, and I’m the owner of The Elevated Closet. I’m also a former WNBA player who knows firsthand the struggles tall women face when it comes to finding clothes that truly fit. At 6’4″, I’ve always struggled to find stylish and well-fitting clothes that accommodate my height. This personal challenge led me to start The Elevated Closet—because I know I’m not alone. There’s an entire community of tall women out there who deserve clothing that is designed with them in mind.
At The Elevated Closet, we specialize in creating stylish, high-quality clothing that caters to tall women. We offer everything from casual wear to more professional pieces, with longer inseams, sleeve lengths, and body lengths. Our aim is to provide tall women with clothing that fits them perfectly—no more shopping in the men’s section or settling for sleeves and pants that are just too short!
What sets us apart is our deep understanding of what it means to be tall. I’m not just a business owner—I’m a tall woman who has faced these issues my entire life. I get the frustration of having to compromise on style just because most brands don’t cater to taller frames. That’s why we focus on the little details, like ensuring sleeves actually reach your wrists and pants fall the way they should—so tall women can feel confident and comfortable in their clothing.
I’m incredibly proud of the community we’ve built around The Elevated Closet. It’s not just about selling clothes; it’s about empowering tall women to feel their best and find confidence in who they are. Whether it’s through our TikTok community of over 18K followers Instagram to a little under 10k followers, or the stories we hear from customers who finally found clothes that fit, I’m most proud of how our brand is making a positive impact.
For anyone learning about us for the first time, I want you to know that The Elevated Closet is here to solve your tall-girl wardrobe challenges. We’re constantly evolving and expanding our collection to offer more options. Whether it’s our purple velour pants, which are both comfy and functional, or our shackets with long arms and bodies for that perfect fall layering, our goal is always the same—to create quality, stylish pieces for tall women, made by someone who truly gets it.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?
One of my favorite marketing stories is how I got started on TikTok. As an elder millennial, TikTok was honestly pretty intimidating at first. I remember starting with just 70 followers, making silly videos, not really sure what direction to go. I felt like I was throwing things at the wall, just trying to see what would stick. I knew I had something unique to offer—stylish clothes for tall women—but it took some time to figure out how to find my community on such a massive platform.
In the beginning, I had to navigate some pretty uncomfortable stuff—like gross tall fetish followers who were clearly not my target audience. It was awkward, and there were moments when I thought, “Is this really worth it?” But I quickly learned to block those accounts and keep my focus on creating content that resonated with tall women like me, who were looking for clothes that actually fit.
I started to experiment more and get comfortable with showing up authentically—talking about the struggles we face as tall women, sharing styling tips, and most importantly, showing off the clothes we create at The Elevated Closet. Little by little, I found my niche, and tall women began to gravitate towards my content.
In two years, I went from those 70 followers to over 18K on TikTok. The risk I took by putting myself out there paid off, but it wasn’t just about numbers. It was about connecting with a community that I deeply care about. Every time I hit ‘post,’ I still get a little nervous, but it’s worth it to know that I’m creating something that helps tall women feel seen and celebrated.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the key parts of my journey with The Elevated Closet has been learning how to fail—and more importantly, how to bounce back. When I first started designing and creating clothes for tall women, not everything went perfectly. In fact, I’d say I failed more times than I succeeded early on. There were products that didn’t quite turn out as I envisioned—whether the fit was off, the fabric didn’t hold up, or it just wasn’t up to the quality I wanted. Each time, it was tough. As a small business owner, every mistake feels personal because it’s not just about the product; it’s about your name and reputation.
But instead of letting those setbacks stop me, I saw them as opportunities to learn. I became obsessed with improving. I listened to my customers, took their feedback seriously, and pushed myself to keep refining both the clothing and our customer service. There were times when I had to apologize to customers and make things right, and while that was hard, it taught me the value of staying committed to providing an amazing experience for every single person who shops with us.
Now, I’m proud to say that my customers are incredibly loyal. They trust The Elevated Closet because they know that what they’re getting is high-quality clothing that is thoughtfully designed for tall women. That trust wasn’t built overnight, but through every failure, every reworked design, and every honest conversation with my community. I’m incredibly grateful for that loyalty because it shows that resilience really does pay off. I never gave up on creating something great, and now I get to see the impact of that effort in the way my customers keep coming back.
