We recently connected with Jordan Denise Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan Denise , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.
The music industry can be very difficult to navigate and doesn’t always have a straight forward path to success. The landscape has changed and technology has created several opportunities, avenues, and levels of success for music artists. I believe that the biggest trends in the music industry right now are TikTok and AI (Artificial Intelligence). TikTok has created a huge platform to launch emerging artist into instant fame with viral videos gaining thousands to millions of followers! I post a lot of dance turning videos and music videos on my TIKTok and Instagram accounts @jordandenisewilliams for exposure and to reach new fans. My biggest success was a turning dance video that went viral and was featured and I gained 5,000 TIK Tok follower, 13,000 Instagram followers, and 80,660 likes in just 3 weeks. My TIKTok account has just reached a total of one million likes. The power of this platform for emerging artist is incredible and the YouTube of my generation.
New Technologies such as AI have allowed people to have the creative tools necessary to put their music in a place that couldn’t be reached before. Software has made it easy to record music, upload it, and distribute it to all major online music platforms potentially reaching millions of people without the muscle of a major record label. Social media and technology has allowed artists to connect with their fans personally and develop their own personal brand without the help of a major label or marketing company.
What concerns me the most about the emerging trends in the music industry is the lack of authenticity and the human personal touch of creating and performing music created from the heart! The gift of creating an original composition, recording, singing it live, and allowing you to interact and feel the emotions of the people who you touch is priceless. Also, as technology makes it easier to create and distribute music it also increases the competitive platform making it more difficult to be seen and heard as an independent or “Indie Artist”within the music industry without the help of a major label or music company.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is, Jordan Denise Williams, and I am 19 years old and a Singer, Songwriter, Pianist, Guitarist, Music Producer, and Dancer from Tampa Bay. I have been singing, dancing, and performing in musicals, and on stages since I was three years old. I am an alumni of the BSDA, national award winning competitive dance team, and have won three National, Battle of The Stars, and Victory Cup Championships. I think that having 16 years of experience at such a young age has taught me discipline, hard work, professionalism, and team work which I believe sets me apart from many young emerging artists.
I currently attend Hillsborough Community College studying Music —with aspirations of transferring to the University of South Florida to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Music and Dance. I also sing professionally on The Gospel Voice TV show with Derrick Williams which airs nationally every week on the Christian Television Network. I am available for bookings at various restaurants and events around Tampa Bay, performing Jazz Standards, Motown, Rhythm & Blues, Yesterday’s Classics & Today’s Pop Hits!
I love performing and teaching music and dance but, songwriting is my passion! I love writing music because I can use my voice as a platform to express my innermost feelings and help people going through similar things. There aren’t many professions where your personal experiences can affect masses of people like music can. I think that this is what I am the most proud of. I always wanted to have the creative freedom to write and produce my own songs. So, I studied Professional Music Production with Protools Platform Software for a year at Hands In Motion Music under Latin Grammy® Award Winning Producer Lannie Battistini. This gave me the tools needed to record, produce, and release my own music as an independent “Indie” Artist.
I will be releasing a Jazz EP (Extended Play) which is a musical recording containing fewer tracks than a full album. The EP will be released in the Fall of 2023 and consist of 4 to 5 cover songs of standard Jazz favorites that I perform regularly at my gigs. I Will also release a new radio edit version of my 2022 Christmas single “No Snowfall” in December 2023 and a full album including 12 original songs in 2024 on all music platforms.
Lastly, I have the opportunity this Summer to attend Star Dance Alliance’s Power Pak, an exclusive, invitation only, 5 day dance intensive consisting of the most elite dancers from all across the country. The Dance Intensive concludes with a dance production that opens up for Starpower’s National Dance Competition’s Battle of The Stars at Disney’s Dolphin Resort.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media can be very time consuming and such a tedious process. I built my social media by making sure that my branding was the same across all of my platforms using the same name, profile photos, and verbiage. It is important to make sure that all of your contact information and links are provided and up to date. The key to successfully posting content is to identify and engage your target audience. I looked at several Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook pages that were in the same industry as myself to get an idea of the content that they were posting. Then, I researched the internet to to figure out what are the best days and times to post on each platform. I try to post daily and to put a variety of content to keep my followers interested and engaged. If there is a trend I try to engage that in a post. I’ll be honest it’s not easy creating content to post every day and it’s time consuming. So, when I have free time I try to create a lot of content then use a platform to schedule all of my post for a later date. This frees me up for any unexpected things or ideas I want to post on a whim. I try to post a variety of live streams, Q&A‘s, up and coming music that I am going to release, behind the scenes, and some educational information like “National Dance Day”. I find it helpful to research and learn the algorithms for each platform to better understand trends and what and when to post. Honestly, social media is a lot of trial and error just watching what works and what does not. I learned to be persistent and not give up and just keep trying and keep posting,

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
As I mentioned earlier, one of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist is having the ability to take your innermost thoughts, feelings, and experiences and to help change peoples lives worldwide. It is such a free creative art form that has no wrong or right! Creating music gives me the opportunity to have a voice and a platform that many professions and careers don’t have. What I love the most about music is that it is a universal language that speaks to everyone and is the most prevalent art form in our lives and in society. Music is everywhere: TV, commercials, movies, radio, celebrations, funerals, graduations, malls, birthdays etc…Imagine a world without it!
