Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jonathan Robinson, Ph.D., PP, BA. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jonathan, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
In 2020, Mr. William Paiz was referred by his attorney for anger management and domestic violence classes. He felt confident that we could help him make changes to get his family back. This was my most difficult challenge. He had been out of the house for months living in a hotel and unable to see his kids. The anger management program was 6 weeks long; the last anger management class, he was back home. The changes were so drastic that it impacted his parenting, marriage, and boosted his productivity at work. He also shared that for the first time in years, he finally went back to church and he also forgave his father for the way he had been treated as a kid which fragmented their relationship. They spent Thanksgiving together for the first time as a family ever since he had gotten married. He took the domestic violence class for 6 months and helped men who were in dire situations challenging men to do things differently and helped other men reconcile with their families. The attorney has since sent many men thereafter to get help from us. I have many more stories of men and women who have done well in the program since they completed it and have gone on to do amazing things with their families, companies, and communities.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am also a Professor at Harvest Christian University who lectures in Philosophy and Psychology classes.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
COVID-19 was the biggest pivot I had to make after only becoming the new owner of Greater Dallas LifeSkills not even a year. Going from in person to group webinar was something that I had to figure out quickly to do. Many clientele were lost because we didn’t do in person groups due to COVID-19 as the company considered the health and safety of staff and the clientele itself. Being as consistently effective and not changing my delivery of the classes was the key. It resonated so well that most out of clients prefer online now more than in person even though I am back now taking in person clients. Word got out quickly.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I wanted to make sure that being an instructor meant that I could be a reflection of the message that was being represented, to provide the best solutions to promote good behavioral health, healthy relationships, desired directions to life in desperate need of change, and most of all, having such success extend into the lives of these families. My struggle at first was attempting to teach the way my father did; one day he felt I was struggling with this and he took me out to lunch to open me up. He reassured me that it shouldn’t be a burden to be like me. I wanted everything to be perfect in order to avoid making some mistakes that I thought I couldn’t recover from – he told me to be myself and from then on, I took that and ran with it. Lecturing, Illustration, and Q&A without judgment resonated with people.
