Johnny, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Pragmatic and direct in my approach, I believe there’s always an answer to address skin concerns without breaking the bank. Affordability from services to products that pack a punch is at the forefront of how I care for clients. The misconception regarding if it’s “expensive” than it must work better is an outdated perception. Most of the active ingredients found in an off-brand skin product are identical to the ones sold in a fancy boutique. Most services are being presented with a 50 percent mark up when in reality they can cut that in half and still provide exceptional quality with a profit. Combining these honest ideals, I was able to get client retention with loyal package members. The skincare industry has to adjust to this new era of practicality with self care and I intend to continue to bring that to the DFW market.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Starting a business was a long time dream, that I hoped to achieve in the long run. I wanted to hone my skill set and learn every facet regarding skincare and aesthetics, The business side of this industry is extensive, and multi level’d ranging from private spas, corporate hotels, franchises, med spas, etc. The amount of knowledge that I acquired through out these experiences was rewarding and beneficial to my growth. During this entire development of character building and expansion, I had one thought that resonated the most with me. Freedom. The freedom of expression with my craft in every form that it could take me. I had many doors close, many chapters end and the moment that I started to believe in myself, trust in my truth, the best doors have opened. Becoming an entrepreneur is the most challenging phase of my life that I knew I was ready to embark on.
This vision developed into a way of life. The understanding of how your skin can dramatically change how a person feels and presents themselves into the world. We have a conditioned dogma of what beauty is, and if we can even attain such expectations of ourselves. I’m a results driven Esthetician, pragmatic in how I handle every skin type while coaching throughout the process. I value my clients loyalty from getting my first membership to seeing my first review. It is truly rewarding. Being able to change a person’s confidence and make them feel beautiful makes it all worth it. My clients are left feeling like they matter and are of value during their skincare journey with me by their side.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
People’s expectation is not your responsibility. All you can do is be kind, understanding and fair in your relationships with family, friends, and business. That’s it. What they do after that is not your concern and will always be out of your control . It’s pointless to try to impress them. If you try to fit in or force it to work you’ll be uncomfortable and not confident in your delivery. Be yourself and be open to new perceptions and ideas in every aspect. The right circumstances, experiences and right people will present itself.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Remember, discomfort in any form always makes you grow. It changes your character. I thought I was going to go one direction regarding skin clients. I initially wanted to handle mature, aging skin and after a while the spark I had was starting to get dull and fade. I shifted towards a more results driven skin journey. Discoloration and hyper pigmentation is my bread and butter. My cup of tea would be my acne clients. In-depth learning with these skin issues of course was a personal transformation while I was in a discomfort state. It lead me to the shortest path of success. Discomfort is never a punishment and will always be a gift.
