Hi Joe, thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

The idea for p10 Rating LLC was born during my college days, where my friends and I frequently asked each other to rate things on a scale of 1-10. Whether it was a new pair of sneakers or an outfit, this simple act of rating became a fun and common practice. I noticed the same trend on social media, where people often sought opinions and ratings on various items. This sparked a lightbulb moment for me: What if there was a platform where anyone could get anything rated anonymously?

With this idea in mind, I knew I had to take action. However, I was still a year away from graduating and had gaps in my knowledge about building such a platform. Determined to turn this vision into reality, I began taking courses outside of my schoolwork to learn about software development and engineering. These extra lessons were instrumental in developing the initial version of the app.

The journey was far from easy. Balancing my studies with learning new skills required dedication and time management. But as I delved deeper into the world of software development, my knowledge and abilities began to flourish. I spent countless hours coding, troubleshooting, and refining the platform, driven by the vision of creating something impactful.

After graduation, my commitment to the project only grew stronger. I continued to work tirelessly on the app, incorporating feedback and improving its functionality. The hard work paid off when I finally launched the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) on the Apple App Store.

This journey from idea to execution was a transformative experience. It taught me the importance of perseverance, continuous learning, and the power of turning a simple concept into a tangible product. I’m the founder and CEO of p10 Rating LLC, a platform designed to provide quantitative ratings for virtually anything. My journey into the tech industry began in an unconventional way. As a teenager, I dreamed of becoming an entertainer, which led me to drop out of high school and later college, eventually moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Hollywood. After a year of navigating the challenges of the entertainment industry, I decided to pivot and finish my degree in computer science—a decision that has profoundly shaped my current path.

p10 Rating LLC was born out of a simple yet powerful idea: to create a platform where people can rate anything and everything anonymously. Whether it’s a pair of sneakers, an outfit, a car, or food, our platform provides valuable insights through quantitative data. For businesses, this means having access to actionable feedback to improve their products and services. Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

When I was developing the p10 Rating iOS app for the Apple App Store, I encountered numerous challenges that tested my resilience. The most daunting of these was facing rejection from Apple about ten times. Each rejection brought new requirements and hurdles that I had to overcome.

There was a moment when the sheer frustration and seemingly endless adjustments made me consider giving up. However, I was determined to see my vision come to life. With each rejection, I meticulously addressed Apple’s feedback, learning and improving along the way. The process was grueling and demanded immense patience and persistence.

Finally, after many sleepless nights and relentless effort, the app was approved. That moment was not just about launching the app; it was a testament to the power of resilience and determination. This experience taught me that perseverance in the face of obstacles is crucial to achieving success and that no setback is insurmountable if you stay committed to your goal.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

Throughout my life, I’ve often been called a dreamer—and for good reason. As a teenager, I harbored a grand vision of becoming an entertainer. Fueled by this dream, I made the bold decision to drop out of high school and later college to pursue my passion. My journey led me to Los Angeles, the heart of the entertainment industry, where I immersed myself in the world of acting, hoping to break into Hollywood.

For a year, I navigated the unpredictable and often frustrating terrain of the Hollywood machine, auditioning for roles and seeking my big break. However, as the months passed, I realized that the path to stardom was fraught with obstacles, and success was far from guaranteed.

It was then that I faced a pivotal moment in my life. I had to make a choice: continue chasing an elusive dream or pivot towards a more stable and fulfilling career. Choosing the latter, I decided to return to Austin, Tx and finish my degree in computer science.

This shift wasn’t easy, but it was transformative. My passion for problem-solving and technology reignited, and I channeled my creative energy into coding and software development. This decision ultimately led to the creation of p10 Rating LLC, where I combined my love for innovation with a practical approach to business.

This pivot from Hollywood hopeful to tech entrepreneur taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience. While the dreamer in me remains, my journey has shown that sometimes, the most significant achievements come from embracing change and finding new ways to pursue your passions.
