Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joe Lara. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Joe thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
At first, I was uncertain about the direction I wanted to take with podcasting. So, for the first two years, I focused on discussing society and culture. After producing countless episodes, I decided to switch my focus to my true passion: sports.
In the sports world, numerous high-profile athletes and pundits host podcasts, offering valuable insights. However, not everyone can relate to their experiences. This inspired me to create a platform where everyday people can engage in conversations that resonate with their daily lives. It’s about creating a connection where listeners can say, “Hey, this person understands me; they think like I do.”

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always loved radio and used to listen to late-night shows on my way home from work. One of my favorite shows was Coast to Coast, which covered topics about UFOs and science. I also started listening to the Howard Stern Show, and it got me thinking that maybe one day, I could do something similar. I admired his voice and the freedom he seemed to have when speaking into the mic.
Adding to my love for radio, sports have always been a significant part of my life. My father was an amazing baseball player, and our family has been involved in sports for generations. It was natural for me to follow in their footsteps, and I played organized sports until my late 30s—my true passion in life. Over a decade later, I decided to combine these interests and create my own podcast.
I hope listeners feel understood and connected, finding comfort in knowing others share their thoughts. By hearing relatable conversations, I aim to validate their experiences and deepen their love for sports. In the end, I want them to feel inspired and more connected to the sports community.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to express ideas, emotions, and perspectives in unique and impactful ways. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see a concept come to life through my work and to connect with others on a deeper level. The process of creation itself is a journey of discovery and innovation, which continually challenges and inspires me. Additionally, receiving feedback and knowing that my work has resonated with or inspired someone else is immensely gratifying.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Consistency is vital. Remember, people’s time is valuable, so you need to give them a reason to follow you. Regularly posting and resharing content relevant to your show’s niche, and sharing more about yourself behind the scenes and your personal interests, helps create a more personal connection with your listeners.
