We recently connected with Jesudara Hinmikaiye and have shared our conversation below.
Jesudara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
Hello, If I were to do one thing differently, it will be to utilize my website more efficiently. My focus would be to utilize the ‘shop’ feature better.

Jesudara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jesudara A. Hinmikaiye, I’m a Nigerian painter, print designer and textile designer. My first encounter with art was through comic books and the wax-print textiles I saw around me. Reading these books and observing these textiles led me to learn how to create similar things. Through continuous practice, I was able to start my own print design business where I’ve met the design need of various clients by turning their ideas into artistic motifs suitable for apparel. I also developed my painting skills through enrolling in a university that offered visual arts and learning from those who knew more than I did, both online and in person. So far I have been able to exhibit my works and found people who were able to form connections with these artworks enough to collect them.
I enjoy creating prints for clients as it helps me learn more and understand many ways to reinterpret their ideas either through traditional painting or digital mediums.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
NFTs were important to me as a digital artist who created digital paintings and at the time, there was still the debate on whether digital art qualified as art.
I listed a few of my works as NFTs and had a few collected. Through NFTs I was able to form connections with likeminded artists! I was also opportune to work on a number of projects as an illustrator/ graphics designer.
My view on NFTs is positive as I believe it’s a channel through which artists working in different mediums can interact, share ideas and form bonds with people across the world. It is also a tool through which artists can be self sufficient without having to rely on a gallery to sell their art pieces.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is being able to enjoy creating. It’s also being able to deliver on clients’ expectations and in regards to my paintings, its being able to see how much it resonates with people. These feel very rewarding
