We were lucky to catch up with Jessica Tanselle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the best advice you ever gave to a client? How did they benefit / what was the result? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
“Fear is your intuition pushing you in the right direction.”
Your intuition is a powerful guide. I work with my clients to understand their intuition so that they can make clear decisions for their life. A client came to me really excited about the skills that she had to offer and also feeling not good enough and scared that if she made the leap into owning her own business, doing something totally different from her corporate 9-5, that she would fail.
Her conditioning in her life told her she wasn’t good enough and that the best way to make money is to have a regular 9-5 office job. Her intuition was leading her towards a job that brought her freedom, joy, and quite a bit of change. She felt a lot of fear in making this decision. She didn’t know what would happen. She could stay comfortable in her 9-5 or make the leap into being an empowered business owner.
Fear is real. She felt it. She looked at all of the what ifs and the dream outcome. I guided her into a meditation to feel into her decisions in her body with her intuition instead of making the decision from her fearful mindset. As she felt into her body, she could feel that her fear was actually an excitement for the new business idea. As she breathed into her body, she could feel a yes from her intuition. Her fearful mindset could have kept her from expanding. However, when she brought her attention to her body and her intuition, she was able to make a clear decision from her gut instinct, her inner knowing. She was able to stop looking for outside validation and have confidence in her own intuition.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jessica. Many people call me Cha Cha. I am a Shamanic Healer and Ceremony Facilitator. I started my spiritual journey in 2009 when I received a message from a deceased family member. This message came very clearly and suddenly I could sense loved ones around me that had passed away. In 2016, I spent a year studying with teachers in the US and England to understand my gifts as a Psychic Medium. That same year, I started offering readings, healing sessions, and full moon ceremonies as I was working full-time as a Registered Dental Hygienist.
In 2019, I began my spiritual journey with sacred plant medicines. This is where my healing journey truly began and my work as a healer expanded. Working with plant spirits changed my life, brought me into self awareness, and helped me heal from years of trauma and emotional abuse. During my first journey experience, I knew that I wanted to help others heal with plant medicine and I started leading retreats a few months later side by side with a mentor.
Through my healing journey, I discovered my passion is to help other healers and sacred space holders to heal so that they can expand their communities. I offer PsychoSpiritual Coaching Containers for Sacred Space Holders, Private + Group Medicine Ceremonies, and Goddess Retreats so that you can open your consciousness and go within to know and understand yourself. The Confident Intuitive 1:1 Private Coaching Container is for you if you want to dig deep into your healing journey so that you can trust your intuition, feel confident in your unique offering, and expand your spiritual business.
When I hold sacred space for you, you have the opportunity to go deep within yourself, let down your guard, and receive your own ah-ha moments of what’s best for you. These spaces allow you to see what is holding you back and what it is that will propel you forward. You get to connect to your soul and understand yourself better, let go of old ideas, beliefs, and patterns so that you can move into your most authentic self. Open up creativity and inspiration and show up in your life and business with excitement for what you are creating. When you connect to yourself on the soul level, you connect to your intuition… your true guidance.
Walking through my journey of healing, I have found the importance of having a safe, nonjudgemental space to be yourself, feel supported, and connect to other people. I feel honored to offer that space to others and teach other healers how to hold sacred space. It’s been powerful to witness women and healers stand beside each other in community, heal together, and empower each other. Too often in life, we are put in competition, but this life isn’t a competition. It’s a space to learn how to hold each other in love and compassion as we each move through life’s challenges and discover the soul purpose that brings joy, freedom, and healing to the world.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As you as a person grow, it’s common to see shifts and changes around you. I went through a period where I had a lot of people around me change, my work changed, and I was going through a dark night of the soul. A dark night of the soul is representative of everything changing around you as you are going through a deep healing process. This also happened to be during my Uranus Opposition, which is often called the mid-life crisis. It felt like everything was stripped from me and I had to start from the ground up.
I felt a lot of current and old grief of loved ones that had left my life and trauma surface plus the grief of letting go of old dreams and old ideas. I felt scared of all of the changes I knew were coming but I didn’t know what they were. I could tell that my work and sessions were changing and it felt really scary. I had surprises that would pop up, unexpected expenses, fewer sessions being booked, and the building I was working out of was being sold.
It would have been easy to sink into a deep depression and avoid all of the feelings and changes going on. Except I couldn’t. I couldn’t do that because I was the one who had to provide for me. Through my spiritual journey, I developed tools and rituals that helped me move through challenging times with ease. It was uncomfortable and difficult, but I have so much gratitude for the lessons I learned in this process.
I didn’t fully know the path ahead. Many times I could only reach for one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time. I didn’t know what each day would hold emotionally, spiritually, or physically. I did know that I could survive the changes and that these things were changing for my highest good.
I kept following the flow of energy. I followed what felt good to me each day. It may have been sessions, a ceremony, a post, time with family, or a day of self care. I let my intuition guide me so that I could develop more for myself and my business that was aligned with my soul path in this lifetime. Through this process, not only did I survive, but my butterfly wings were strengthened. New offerings were created, including new sessions, retreats, and programs. The metamorphosis was a challenging process and we each go through it many times. I never gave up. I was scared that I might have to a couple of times, but I never did. I’m so grateful that I didn’t. I’m proud of myself. I understand myself on a deeper level and I feel truly aligned with what this journey brought my way.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Every decision should be made rationally. I was taught this, but I believe your intuition will always lead you to the right decision. Our minds are meant to wander and think. They take in so much knowledge. Useful knowledge to help us make rational, logical decisions.
Our intuition is the part of us that is connected to the oneness of the universe. It’s the small voice in our head, the inner knowing, the gut instinct that helps us know and feel the decision that is right for us. Sometimes you just KNOW.
Rationally, quitting my Dental Hygiene career of 14 years was not a smart idea. I spent years in school, paid for boards and licensing, had insurance and 401k, plus I was a really great Dental Hygienist. Intuitively, I knew that I was meant to work as a Psychic Medium full time. I had no idea that covid was coming in just two months. I had no idea that the whole world was going to shut down. I had no idea that later on I would change my offerings and readings! What I did know was that I felt guided to make the shift when I did and I’ve never looked back. I followed the intuitive route and my business expanded. Things have shifted and changed, but my business has continued to thrive as I have continued to follow my intuition.
There have been times when my intuition hasn’t been as clear and I have not followed it. In those instances instead of pausing, I allowed my logical mind to figure it out and make the decision. I had this happen when I was planning an out-of-state retreat, ceremony, and class. I knew when, where, and what, and I planned it. My intuition kept telling me something was off. I could feel it but I couldn’t see what “it” was so I kept planning. I didn’t want to cancel. My rational mind knew there was no reason to cancel even though the energy was off. A couple of weeks before my trip out of state it was clear that my intuition was telling me not to plan this trip. The energy flow and the attendance weren’t there for the class or the retreat. I ended up canceling my out-of-state trip and doors opened for beautiful new opportunities and offerings. I didn’t have fear when I canceled. I knew that the energy not being there was another way my intuition was telling me to move on.
When you are aligned with your intuition, there is a flow of abundance in some way. A flow of energy, creativity, inspiration, words, clients, money, excitement, and even an abundance of breath. When you continue following a path that your mind sets in motion but you aren’t willing to see or feel changes with your intuition, the energy can feel stuck or stagnant. You may find that things are moving or developing. Take a deep breath and notice your heartbeat. This will allow you to get out of the mind and breathe into your heart space. What do you feel and what is it that needs to shift?
