We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Becker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
A meaningful project I worked on was with Orlando International Fashion Week in 2025. My good friend and Orlando curator Heidi Kneisl, invited my clothing line, BabeWear, to be a part of the Streetwear Artist Showcase Runway Show. At the time, BabeWear was barely a month old, so the idea of doing a runway show so soon felt completely insane. But with Heidi’s confidence in my work, I committed to making it happen and to create outfits that would make a strong first impression. The event was a success, and Babewear made its official runway debut and I’ll always be grateful to Heidi (@heidiisthenaysayer @curatingorlando) for seeing my potential and giving BabeWear its very first runway moment.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m the designer of the brand BabeWear and I paint clothing for Men and Women that is one-of-a-kind, never replicated, and has a heavy metal influence. My designs constantly evolve, sculpted to flatter the body while delivering the perfect mix of toughness and sex appeal. My brand was sparked by the nonstop reactions I received to my custom earrings and jackets in public. The response inspired me to turn customization into a full line of painted merch that refuses to be mass-produced.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is seeing my designs come to life and watching them connect with people in real time. With BabeWear, its meant to standout and when I see someone light up when they see or wear it is unforgettable. Knowing my work inspires confidence and attitude is what makes it all worth it.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Honestly, my main goal is to just keep people excited and never bored of my work. I love pushing my designs in new directions and seeing how people react. If it succeeds to a level where it reaches celebrities or a wider audience, that would be incredible, but my focus is always on creating work that excites me and others.
