We recently connected with Jesse Drennen and have shared our conversation below.
Jesse, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
My goal is to provide an affordable alternative to the bigger brands on the market currently (Rudis, Nike etc.) Between late 2022 and thus far in 2023 we have donated nearly $2500 worth of wrestling shoes and apparel to underprivileged wrestling clubs across the country. July 1st we will release the Beastin’ V2 wrestling shoes at a retail price of $49.99 shipped in a drawstring bag in the instance the wrestler does not have a backpack. This is well below the standard pricing for wrestling shoes.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I founded $Bmoney Beastin’ Athletics LLC in August 2022 officially, but was doing charitable type work in the wrestling space far before this, even helping to found the RWC (Ridgeland Wrestling Club) in Rossville, Georgia. Rossville has a median income of less than 20k a year. This was the inspiration for my company. Currently we offer affordable wrestling shoes, football accessories and apparel. What sets my company apart from bigger brands is that I care about the less fortunate. Single mothers on a budget for instance. Wrestling can change a kid’s life. $100 plus for just shoes is a big deterrent to allow kids to enter the sport. Kids that participate in sports are 10% more likely to graduate high school than those who don’t. The foundation of $Bmoney Beastin’ Athletics is to give back. With each pair sold, it allows us to continue to offer this alternative brand to the masses. We do the same thing bigger brands are doing, but we keep our profit margins razor thin to allow our products to be affordable and attainable for anyone.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am genuine. I never give people a fake sales pitch. I listen to their needs and do everything in my power to assist in anyway necessary. In doing so, people see that we are on a level playing field and respect what it is I am trying to accomplish.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In October 2022 my Facebook was hacked. Facebook eventually deleted my page without consent. I lost my business page and all the traction I had built. I was devastated. I never quit. I pivoted and learned more about TikTok and Instagram. Stepped out of my comfort zone and read about different avenues of online marketing. It was difficult to start over from scratch, but I did it and am going strong moving forward.
