We recently connected with Jerry Carnell Jr. and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jerry thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
At Gohard Pet Transport our mission is not just to transport a pet from A to Z. We want to provide an experience for each and every pet and pet owner who chooses our service. We serve rescues, breeders, actors/actresses, professional athletes, families and even military families. I call it my “Chick Fil A” service, I want you to feel excited about the entire process from the moment you request a quote.
The reason I started this company is due to the stories I would hear about pet transporters in the early stages of the industry. These stories were not pretty to say the least. My love for customer service, pets and traveling made this a no brainer.
This mission is meaningful to me because these pets are counting on me to ensure they arrive at their destination safe and healthy. The owner of the pet(s) is trusting me with a member of their family whether new or returning.

Jerry , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
First and foremost I must highlight the word discipline. This is a huge action in my life and should be for anyone who wants to be successful in life. Discipline was instilled in me at a very young age through sports. Understanding that motivation can only take you so far in life but discipline is forever.
I got into the pet transport industry by way of transport. Once I was medically retired from the Army, my mother and I wanted to start a transportation company. As we studied the industry freight prices were dropping significantly. I started to hear about the pet transport world and the stories weren’t good. I knew if we could just get our foot in the door word would get out about how reliable and trustworthy we are in the industry.
Not many people realize pet transportation is growing and in high demand right now. We are working with rescues, breeders, military families, actors/actresses, and even pro athletes to transport pets all over the United States. We provide door to door transport for any reason you can think of. What sets us apart from other transporters is our customer service. I call it the “Chick Fil A” service. From the moment someone contacts us for a quote we are available to answer any questions and provide anything need to help our clients feel safe about using our services.
We have also developed the very first and only Pet Transport University. Within this site we have guides that teach you how to become a successful ground and air shipper. We also offer 1-on-1 consultations for our clients to help them understand the industry completely.
Our potential clients should know that we understand how stressful it can be to trust someone with your furry friends. We strive to relieve you from any stressors you may have about the process. We are available for any questions or concerns at any time!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Knowing when to pivot in life, business or a career is one of the hardest decisions that can be made.
This time came for me around the age of 24. I was in my 7th year in the Army with a very successful career and bright future. I had reached the rank of E-6 in just under 6 years and built a resume unlike any of my peers. Leadership spoke highly of me, as well as my NCOERs (evaluation reports). I was destined to become an E-9 (highest rank achievable) faster than most. In 2022 I had a decision to make, re-enlist or bet on myself in the business industry. I took the risk and left the Army to bet on myself.
I made this decision based off my happiness, drive, determination, and capital potential. I knew I was no longer happy in the Army. I knew if I could be as successful and accomplish the things I did in the military I could do the same in life. I would not recommend anyone give up a successful career to step into Entrepreneurship unless they are completely ready. It has not been an easy journey but I am starting to see the returns on my investment!

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media is a tough feat. For our pet transportation company I used every platform available. We were consistent with our content. We also searched for “highly” searched information in our industry. With this information we were able to develop informative videos answering some of those questions. We set goals and some we crushed, some we missed but we will continue to grow our platform.
If you are a business owner and you are not using ALL social media platforms to promote, you are missing customers. We have customers from every social media platform including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. Create a schedule to be consistent on these platforms. Do not pay too much attention to the numbers, instead continue to improve the quality of your content. Social media is free, USE IT!
