We recently connected with Jeromy Outlaw and have shared our conversation below.
Jeromy , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
My first Ever encounter With creative expression came at the tender age of 9! My uncle Anthony (MY Mom’s Brother) was a big music head in the early 90’s. He listened to a wide variety of genres of music including jazz hiphop Rock & Soul Music, so as a hobby to keep me out the streets cause at the time we stayed on 63rd & BRYNHURST Avenue in the Crenshaw District. He made me do Music and Jujitsu And we ended up cutting my first record Titled “I Love You With All My Heart”. We Recorded it in the living of my grandmothers apartment Dubbed it and gave it to family. My cousin Robert Gladden has this till this day!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Jeromy Du’shane Outlaw, professionally known as J.Outlaw, was born on September 28th, 1987, sharing his birthday with hip-hop icons “Young Jeezy” and Lil Wayne. Growing up amidst adversity and poverty, J.Outlaw
found his refuge and passion in music during the late 1990s and early 2000s. His deep connection to the art of
understanding lyrics became the driving force behind his commitment to music, declaring,

I do this because I eat, sleep, and breathe music.
”
Despite facing challenges that led to juvenile detention, J.Outlaw’s life took a transformative turn five years ago
when he decided to pursue a career in rap. Reflecting on his journey, he notes,
“These past years with music have
been a long road, and I’m just now starting to get to some place that motivates me even more!”
J.Outlaw’s journey, fueled by passion and resilience, is a dynamic force in the industry, with his recent projects
showcasing his continuous growth and exploration of new musical horizons.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2018 I broke both my legs! I was at the peak of my career had momentum and strength. Learning to walk again was one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever had to overcome! October 16th to be exact changed my life tremendously Not only did I have to learn how to walk 5 months later march 31st 2019 My Big Brother NIPSEY HUSSLE passed away and Not only forced me to Start walking. It helped shape me for the death of my son’s grandmother Who I considered my own parents 5 years later!!!
Have you ever had to pivot?
At the time I was in college I was going to antelope Valley College in Lancaster, California jumping on a train coming back to Los Angeles Angeles every weekend took a toll at this time. I was still in the street life but at the same time trying to change for the better because I had a son.. at this moment time in my life. It was a lot of turmoil trial and tribulation so every time I would come down the hill everybody will tell me like stay up the hill. It’s nothing in LA. You don’t gotta come down here now me I’ve always lived in LA my whole life so it was hard to stay away and at this particular time, Nip hat Slauson tees 2.0 up so I wanted to support and get merch. I just got my financial aid money and I had just got a loan from school. I passed all my classes so I wanted to reward myself and get my son and my baby mother at the time some stuff from the front of Slauson tees which is now marathon Clothing. I go up there soon as I get in the parking lot I see Nip he’s sitting on the crate in front of the store so I walk up to him and I’m like no what’s up neighbor he says to me what’s up Lil Bro? I’m like Nip. I’m trying to rap. I don’t. What’s the deal I’m trying to be all Money In. He said are you right now? I’m like “yeah I’m good. I’m trying to be all Money In. He said well. Look Lil Bro check this out. Go get your catalogue right and when you got your catalogue right and you learn about it, come holler at me. I’m a rock with you. I’m like for show. I walked off like what the heck is a catalogue and ever since that day it changed my whole perspective on the Muzik business side of the industry not just the music industry that was a key pivotable moment in my life that changed me from a street to talented business oriented artist.
