Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennifer Miller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jennifer, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
After developing a sensitivity to alcohol, I wondered how I could keep my social life active without constantly having to justify not drinking. I realized there weren’t enough social events that didn’t revolve around alcohol. Then, almost like a sudden download, the idea hit me—a modern-day tea party. I couldn’t sleep that night, my mind was racing with possibilities, imagining an event that I would want to go to.
The next day, I made a few phone calls to close friends and fellow business owners to get their feedback. It was clear my idea had potential, but it was up to me to bring it to life.
I put together a budget with only the materials I absolutely needed to get started. My first tea party setup wasn’t even announced—I wanted to create something without the pressure of having to perform. My daughter invited a few of her school friends to a local park, where I served them three tea tastings. I watched their reactions, listened to their feedback, and saw how much they enjoyed it.
At first, I thought this could be just a social event, but I quickly realized there was a real market for private events. That small gathering confirmed what I had felt all along—this was something special.
I gained confidence and started designing different layouts and themes. I created a website and started sharing on social media. Word spread, and soon, I was hosting private tea parties.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
What started as a simple idea quickly turned into designing modern, immersive tea party experiences. I never thought I’d end up in event design, but when I developed my concept for a modern-day tea party, I quickly realized how much I loved the process. What started as an idea soon turned into a passion, and I was surprised by how many people complimented my design work—often asking about my background in event styling. They were even more surprised when I told them I had none!
For me, tea parties aren’t just about the beautiful setup (though I do love that part). It’s about creating a space where people can slow down, connect, laugh, and celebrate life’s moments in a way that feels truly special. Seeing guests light up when they walk into one of my events, knowing I’ve helped create a core memory for them—that’s what makes it all worth it.
More than anything, I want people to have fun and experience something new. Life moves so fast, and we don’t always take the time to be present with the people we love. My tea parties are a way to change that, even for just a few hours.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation has been built on the love and care I put into every event I design. I truly enjoy finding ways to make each tea party feel personal and unique—whether it’s adding extra candlelight for an evening event or choosing the perfect flowers to match the color palette. Every detail matters to me, from the carefully curated table settings to the thoughtfully selected teas. I believe that luxury is in the details, and I love transforming a space into something that feels both magical and unforgettable.
What sets my work apart is not just how it looks, but how it feels. Clients trust me because they know I’ll bring their vision to life in a way that’s both seamless and special. My events aren’t just gatherings—they’re immersive experiences that make guests feel cared for and celebrated.
More than anything, I want the people who attend my tea parties to leave with memories they’ll cherish long after the last cup is poured. That passion for creating meaningful, beautiful moments is what continues to inspire me every day.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
If you’re just starting, don’t overthink it—just show up and stay consistent. Find something that feels easy for you to do regularly. I have found that audiences like repetition and familiarity. Choosing a format that is easy to duplicate is a great way to start. Following trends that feel true to you is also key. Social media is super crowded, and the best way to stand out is by offering something unique that feels authentic to you. Some social media accounts don’t even post reels but have success because the posting format is consistent and provides value.
There’s always a need for newness on social media—whether it’s a fresh perspective, a new color palette, or a unique design. People are constantly looking for something exciting and different to catch their eye, which is why trends evolve so quickly. Offering a new take on a familiar concept, whether it’s a twist on a popular theme or an unexpected visual, helps you stand out in the cluttered space. It’s not just about being trendy but about keeping your content alive and inspiring, offering something that feels fresh and engaging. By continually introducing new elements to your posts, you keep your audience curious and invested in what you do, and that sense of excitement is what builds loyalty and connection online.
