We recently connected with Jedeye Moree and have shared our conversation below.
Jedeye , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I have learned to create music by studying artists that I am inspired by and actually taking the time to understand the art that is presented. Something that I could’ve done to speed up my process is avoid distractions more and I’m honestly still learning how to do that as my journey continues. One of the skills that were most essential to learn was how to be versatile as an artist and to always create something that was accurate to the times I were going through in life. An obstacle that has stood in the way of learning more is learning how to use my time wisely, and the older I get the more I feel it becomes easier because the older I get the more I realize how valuable time is.
Jedeye , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a musical creative residing in Jackson , Mississippi who is striving to become the best version of myself as a person, hip hop artist, and entrepreneur. One of the things that inspired me to become an artist is I always knew that I was meant to do something influential or motivational, but until I was about 18 years old I never knew how I was going to be that. I’ve always been writing since I was 15, but I didn’t know that it was meant for other people to hear my writings until I graduated high school. Once I graduated high school I started being more vocal and expressive with my writings and people really understood & were inspired by what I had to say. That’s when I knew I had no choice but to keep going to be an inspiration. Once I realized how much my supporters appreciated my art I started creating merch associated with my previous projects I have released. Something that sets me apart from other creatives is that I focus on telling my story as honest and as unique as I possibly can to keep the listeners entertained as I’m still getting the messages across. I just want to appreciate all my fans, supporters, inspirers, and everyone who takes the time to consume the art that I put out. I hope I can motivate everyone to grow with me as you all witness my growth as you all stay tuned.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I feel like society as a whole can help support by appreciating the art for what it is instead of trying to compare artists to other. I feel as if society should just consume the music and appreciate the time put into it instead of judging it to what they THINK it should be instead of what it actually is. Something else they can do is focus on promoting artists that they really enjoy instead of artists that are already validated by the industry just to look cool.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist is when the art really connects with people who you never would’ve thought understand your perspective. When someone tells you that they can gain something from something you’ve created and that it actually help them with something in life that’s one of the best rewards I could ask for.
