Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeanie King. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jeanie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
At the beginning of January 2017, after the US election, my friend, Cindy Jordan and I noticed the disparity between how women were acting and the true nature of feminine power. We decided to create a way for women to reconnect with our own life-giving and nurturing truths while recognizing that we, as women, are better than we have been told. We decided to create BNOW, The Beautiful Network of Women with a radio show, women’s retreats, and more. Our tagline is WOMEN ADVOCATING WOMEN AND TOGETHER HEALING THE WORLD WITH LOVE. We are not therapy. We are not a church. We are a loving group of ever-expanding worldwide friendships. We are there for one another.
Women need other women to laugh, sing, dance, cry, and support one another. This past weekend (September 19-22, 2024) we completed our 8th year of Women’s retreats and it was magical. Although we love our husbands and sons and brothers, we only gather with women during these special retreat times. No “Y” chromosomes :) We allow presenters to speak to our groups, using a TedTalk format. With lots of free time, music, food and fun.
One of our younger women gave her first presentation about craniosacral work with horses. She also has used this work to heal her own life. Women leave our retreats and write that book. Find new careers. Move into a new house or town. Connect with a love interest. And, most importantly, decide to breathe and relax. It’s a beautiful thing.

Jeanie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
BNOW, The Beautiful Network of Women – We decided on this name because we naturally network with others. And we also found out that many women don’t think they are beautiful. So, instead of the Network of Beautiful Women, we put the emphasis on The Beautiful Network of Women. Our only rule for the weekends is NO judgment. No judgment of others and no judgment of self.
How often have you and your girlfriends said – We should go on a retreat? Or, I need to get away and relax. BUT…(behold the underlying truth) and here come the excuses…. I’m too busy. I don’t have the money. I’ll do it later. PRO TIP – Many years ago I had a fortune cookie that said – One of these days is none of these days. I taped that fortune to my refrigerator as a reminder that now is the only time we have.
Women often say they can’t imagine going for a weekend by the river or beach with other women they don’t know. But I assure you, our deal with the Universe (Uni = one. Verse = song) is to only send us the right women. And it’s brilliant how each retreat is magical and fun. If your heart is calling, we want to hear from you.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Through my prior major market broadcast experience, another friend connected me with Cindy Jordan, whose first song “Jose Cuervo, You Are a Friend of Mine” became the Billboard Hit of the Year in 1983. She has since written 19 books and produced a musical ballet about the Lady of in Blue from the 17th Century in Agrada, Spain, Last year, she produced “Pearl” a musical about the Wild West which is a love story between a generous madame helping young ladies to find their self-worth and more. It’s fabulous. She is now completing “The Beach” a musical about a young man waking up to his spiritual nature, after a very painful divorce and more. It’s a great story and has 23 original songs. We partnered in creating The Beautiful Network of Women. We each bring something to this company and stay in our lanes… lol.
I have written three books and am working on the newest book “Oh Hell I’m Well” – by soliciting people’s stories of how their lives have changed after losing any body part or organ. Last year, I spent 7 months in and out of surgery for diverticulitis and after the removal of a bunch of abdominal parts, my life changed. I became calm, happy, and more focused. In my opinion, my organs loved me so much that they were willing to hold the traumas and fears that had accumulated until I was forced to release them. If you have a story of change through any type of bodily loss, let me know and we can look at including your short story.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
This is a great question. In order to be a difference and make a difference in the world of women, we had to be very clear on two things. First, we had to know what we did not want. We didn’t want to open up our retreats to anyone other than natural women. And we didn’t want to make money the primary reason. The first couple of retreats, we went into the hole financially. After the third retreat, we joked that we weren’t looking down the hole. But the feedback and changes women were experiencing were so profound, we carried on. Our retreats are affordable and amazing.
Secondly, we know how life can race along with families, friends, jobs, finances, relationships, and more. We wanted to create an opportunity for women to find their voices, and honor themselves enough to relax and heal inside. Women usually end up as the caretakers of children, older parents, and more. Our desire is to give women a chance to remember who they are.
With those two decisions, Cindy and I have created video Coffee Chats, and radio programs, inviting others to invite their friends and trust that we are supported by the intelligence of this fabulous Earthly life experience.
By remaining true to our commitments and being authentic, the BNOW reputation is stellar and inclusive.
