We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful JC Rodriguez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with JC below.
Alright, JC thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
What does a 47-year-old lady do after losing both parents 10 months apart, mentally drained, weighing her heaviest, and recently diagnosed with breast cancer? Fall into depression, struggle to go to work, and reach one of the darkest moments in her life.
“I’ve never exercised before, took care of my health, or watched what I ate, and after a cancer diagnosis, my life felt like it was over. And starting to work with JC was one of the hardest decisions to make, especially after cancer. But by far the best decisions of my life.”
– T.K.
I met with this online coaching client via zoom once a week at 9 am to to help her build rebuilt confidence in her body through exercise. My goal was to help her understand correct form and technique after breast cancer surgery and how to avoid common mistakes to avoid pain.
“He knew how to motivate me to reach my maximum potential. His ability to gauge my endurance and strength levels were impressive. He taught me playing cards can give you a great workout.”
She continued to show up week in until she felt mentally restored and lost 40-pounds. She is now 54 years old and still able to say she continues to exercise, becuase online training has given her the skills for a healthy lifestyle.
“I am excited to publicly say, ‘Thank you ,Julio, for setting me on a path to helping me live my life to the fullest.'”
When I look back with my time with T.K I am reminded about her resilience. It is amazing to watch how much cancer survivors have overcome, can overcome, and how I can help them in their journey.
This is why I love working with cancer survivors.
Life is not over after a cancer diagnosis and 1-1 online coaching is just one vehicle you can use today to improve your health after cancer.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m JC,
I am a fitness and health care professional, certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Cancer Exercise Specialist & Clinical Exercise Physiologist.
I’ve run cancer & exercise research trials for Yale University & the University of Miami. I’ve worked with 1,000’s of cancer survivors, and after working in a hospital setting, I learned quickly that cancer survivors don’t have a space in the health & fitness world.
Personal trainers do not have the knowledge of treatment to create a safe exercise plan, fitness classes do not tailor exercises for cancer survivors after cancer surgery, and online coaches do not have the adequate understanding of survivors’ side effects, medicine, or needs.
This is not a hate against local fitness programs, because some movement is better than no movement, but after doing research in exercise oncology, it is clear that exercise has a different effect in cancer survivors.
That is why I created the OncoloFit Exercise Oncology Online Fitness Program. My Oncolofit Program is online 1-1 coaching designed to help cancer survivors:
– Build confidence in their new body after cancer
– Lower cancer fatigue
– Build muscle to improve cancer survival
– Lose belly fat despite hormone treatment
1) When you join my 1-1 Online Coaching you get a structured workout plan that balances out rest & activity — because your body during cancer treatment needs a variation in training intensities to improve and recovery during treatment.
2) Workout that match your biggest health goal to improve cancer survival — because deciding what will give you the best chance of reducing cancer and improving you long term is the foundation of your exercise routine.
3) Evidence-based exercises that are known to fight the cancer side effects — all exercise is good for you, but not all exercise are used as medicine. I specifically customize your workout plan to fight the cancer treatment side effects so that you can feel better in and out of treatment.
You will always have access to me, and everything you need is just one message away, because my greatest joy is making sure my online 1-1 coaching clients feel genuinely understood, supported, and cared for.
Cancer is not something you have to go through alone.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Setting my focus on how I can give back and help my followers for free rather than asking myself how can my followers help me. Every post I make and every business decision I make I put myself in my followers shoes.
I do not cold call, becuase no one likes them.
I do not spend time messaging people to join my coaching because I find that extremely annoying
and I do not ask people to join my coaching every day, week, or month.
Instead, I greet every person that follows me and I encourage them to ask questions. I answer every single question I get in deep and in a timely manner.
I spend time commenting and give out all the best knowledge I have about cancer, survivorship, and fitness, for free.
I’ve created 5 free resources for everyone that follows me and I personally work with all my clients and respond to all my followers.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Patience. Most online fitness coaches quit within a year and don’t last 5 years. Patience is the key to success, after graciously giving all of your best tips for free. Patience is what will set you apart from a saturated fitness industry. Post 3-5x a week for the next 5-10 years and you will out-last your competition. Patience is what will help you gain your followers trust and gain the confidence you need to succeed.
