We recently connected with Jayda Gary and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jayda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I started Rayne & Company during my sophomore year of college, and now, five years later, I’m a full-time nurse while still running my business on the side. While it’s not my full-time job yet, running a small business often feels like a 24/7 commitment — but it’s one that’s incredibly rewarding. The ability to be my own boss and make decisions for my business gives me a sense of freedom and fulfillment that’s hard to describe. Embroidery has always been therapeutic for me; it never feels like work because I genuinely love bringing my clients’ visions to life. While balancing nursing and my business can be challenging, the creative outlet and connection with my clients make it all worthwhile. My dream is to one day make Rayne & Company my full-time focus, but for now, I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow both my career and my business on my own terms.

Jayda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Rayne & Company was established in 2020 and is proudly based out of Myrtle Beach, SC. We specialize in custom embroidery, focusing on bringing our clients’ unique visions to life with precision and care. Whether it’s personalized apparel, graduation stoles, or event accessories, every stitch is made with love and attention to detail. Our mission is to create meaningful, high-quality pieces that reflect each customer’s individuality. At Rayne & Company, we believe that embroidery is more than just thread — it’s about turning ideas into something tangible and memorable.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media has been a journey of consistency, authenticity, and connection. When I started Rayne & Company in 2020, I focused on showcasing my work through behind-the-scenes content, process videos, and customer highlights. Sharing the story behind each piece — from the inspiration to the finished product — allowed my audience to feel connected to my craft. I engaged with my followers by responding to comments and messages, asking for their input on designs, and even involving them in decisions like color options or new product launches.
Word-of-mouth and customer reviews also played a big role. When clients shared their custom pieces and tagged Rayne & Company, it created a ripple effect that introduced my work to a wider audience. Collaborating with other small businesses and participating in local events helped me reach new customers and build trust within the community. Over time, my audience grew not just because of the products, but because people connected with the story, passion, and personal touch behind Rayne & Company.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
TikTok has been the best source of new clients for Rayne & Company. It’s given my business exposure to a wide audience and allowed me to reach clients in numerous states. The platform’s ability to showcase my embroidery process through quick, engaging videos has really helped people connect with my work. Videos of custom orders, behind-the-scenes stitching, and even customer unboxings have gained traction, leading to more inquiries and orders. TikTok’s algorithm has allowed my content to reach people who may not have found my business otherwise, and that organic reach has been invaluable for growing my client base across the country.
