We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jawad Syed. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jawad below.
Alright, Jawad thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
I recently had the privilege of working with a patient who wanted to do something truly special for herself on her birthday. She was a middle-aged woman who had been considering improving her smile for years, but life and hesitation had always gotten in the way—until now. It was clear that this wasn’t just about her teeth; it was about celebrating herself and gaining the confidence she deserved.
After our consultation, we decided on 10 custom veneers with minimal prep. This approach allowed me to enhance the length and width of her teeth and improve and widen her smile, giving her a fuller and more balanced smile while preserving much of her natural tooth structure. We wanted the results to feel natural, yet transformative.
When the treatment was complete and I handed her the mirror, her reaction was unforgettable. The smile she had hidden for so long was now radiating back at her, and there were tears of joy in her eyes. She told me how she had always felt her teeth held her back, and now, on her birthday, she was giving herself the gift of a new beginning.
Seeing her leave the office with a new sense of confidence, ready to celebrate not just her birthday, but herself, reminded me of why I love what I do. Dentistry isn’t just about improving aesthetics; it’s about helping people embrace the best versions of themselves. In that moment, I knew she was walking out not only with a new smile but also with a renewed spirit. It was the perfect birthday gift—to herself.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those who may not know me, my journey into dentistry started in Wisconsin, where my love for art and science developed from an early age. I studied at Charles University in Prague and completed my advanced training at The University of Oklahoma.
At Watters Creek Dental, we specialize in Invisalign, dental implants, veneers, and All-on-4 treatments—providing both cosmetic and restorative solutions tailored to our patients. We also have an in-house lab, which means quicker turnaround times and more precise control over the quality of your treatments. To enhance accuracy and outcomes, we’ve invested in advanced technology, including 3D imaging systems that give detailed insights for precise treatment planning. We’ve even built a private photo studio to capture your smile transformations.
What sets us apart is our commitment to personalized, high-quality care. Whether you’re looking for a straighter smile with Invisalign, a full arch replacement with All-on-4, or cosmetic enhancements like veneers, we’re dedicated to providing results that blend artistic detail with cutting-edge science.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been a combination of word-of-mouth referrals and leveraging technology to enhance patient experiences. We focus on building strong, trusting relationships with our patients, ensuring they feel heard, cared for, and confident in their treatment. Happy patients naturally share their positive experiences, and that’s been a powerful driver for us.
Additionally, we’ve invested in advanced technology—like 3D imaging systems and our in-house lab—which improves treatment accuracy and efficiency. This, along with showcasing before-and-after transformations in our private photo studio, helps patients see the high-quality results they can expect. That transparency and trust, along with providing cutting-edge care, has significantly contributed to our growth.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Managing a team and keeping morale high really comes down to good communication and making sure everyone feels appreciated and part of the process. I try to create an environment where people know their work matters and that they’re heard. Regular check-ins—both individually and as a team—help with that.
I also think it’s important to invest in professional growth. Encouraging team members to keep learning and offering ways for them to advance keeps things exciting. And, of course, recognizing the little wins goes a long way. When people feel respected and supported, they’re more motivated and happy, which shows in the care they give to our patients.
