We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Poleon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jasmine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I jokingly came up with the name at brunch not knowing what it would be come today, and hopefully what it will continue to become. Back in 2018, we were regular brunch goers, still am, but after a few mimosas, my mind would start throwing out hilarious sayings. I thought it would a fun idea to start an Instagram “blog” called “The Mimosa Club” to share our brunch pictures and the funny quotes I was coming up with. I started the Instagram in July of 2018.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been a licensed cosmetologist going on 10 years this year! I have always had a passion for the arts and creating. Naturally being an empath, and loving to create with my hands, this allowed me to thrive in the beauty industry. Having multiple practices & certifications allowed me to be a multi-stop shop for a lot of my clients. After years of bonding with some of these women, it became very personal with most of them. An appointment could be as simple as a 15 minute brow wax, or getting someone ready for their wedding day!
Outside of my creative career in the salon, I loved brunch. It was a highlight of the week to get ready and meet your friends for breakfast and bottomless mimosas which almost always turned into a day of day drinking, dancing and adventures. Very early in my beauty industry career, I branched off independently. This gave me a lot of knowledge & skillset & discipline to be able to start and run a business. I feel that definitely helped me succeed in establishing The Mimosa Club.
Although I still have my salon business, Jasology, a majority of my week now goes to focusing on building The Mimosa Club. TMC is currently split into 2 operating sides, our bubbly bar catering, and our bubbly bar boutique! Our catering side consists of a collection of different mimosa & Champagne carts & walls where we service a variety of different events & clients for all celebration types! We have served a party as small as 6 people, all the way up to 500 people! Our bubbly bar boutique consists of a selection of different merch items including a mimosa recipe book. What’s special about the merchandise is a lot of the t-shirts have the quotes from the original Instagram brunch blog from 2018, with an upgraded design. Our self published mimosa recipe book contains 50 recipes and took 4 years to complete.
The main goal for Mimosa Club as it has been from the beginning, is to have our own brunch & event venue. I think what sets this company apart from others, besides having a number of different products & services, is our vibes! I love going above and beyond creating experiences from the design & hospitality side. Not only does TMC provide “aesthetically pleasing” services, but also adds an extra sparkle to the memories.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
2020 was by far the most testing year and I think almost everyone can agree especially entrepreneurs. As business’s were considered “non essential”, the shut down basically put everything at a halt for me. I lost my salon suite. Although it did give me a ton of brainstorming time, there was no way to act on it.
After the shut down, it was no different. I put everything I had into reopening another salon suite. People did not have extra money to come to the salon, there was still a lot of fear around being in public, plus, they were working from home, they didn’t really care about the state of their hair. For The Mimosa Club it was the same. Nobody was having events due to financial strains, and social distancing!
This was a tough year, and even the following year. It took a lot of strength and believing and myself and what I had created that if I stuck to it, it could make a come back and not be a complete loss. To this day, I still feel I am rebuilding in a way, and trying to establish more stability as an entrepreneur.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
Yes, for The Mimosa Club, we now make a lot of our merchandise in house! With the rest being supplied by vendors.
Originally, we sourced our products from multiple drop shipping warehouses across the US. in 2024, we decided to bring it in house. We now source most the supplies for our products from local and mostly fellow women owned businesses. For example, our t-shirts. Our shirts are bought wholesale from a local women owned company, as well as our graphics which we purchase from another local women owned company, and we press the shirts ourselves in house.
Our recipe book was designed & edited in house, but sent to local print company for mass printing.
We have a small handful of different vendors we partner with to complete our finish products and we ship out to our customers personally.
