Jasmine, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

I had no idea where to start when naming my business. I didn’t even know it would turn into a full blown business! It really started with wanting to create a separate Instagram because I didn’t want to post on my personal Instagram. And that’s when I needed to figure out a name. I knew I wanted to create a variety of different desserts and showcase what I was capable of. Most of the names that I wanted were taken and one that was not so common at the time was “Sweet Things” so that’s when I created “Sweet Things by Jasmine” and it just took off from there! I am so glad it did.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I have always been creative and was always fascinated by beautiful desserts ever since I was little. I would always admire the display cakes you see at bakeries and wondered how can they create something so stunning. Fast forward to my early twenties, just so curious to see if I too can create something delicious and pretty with my own hands and so I did! I create custom cakes, custom decorated cookies, macarons, cake pops, and cupcakes. I work with my clients to bring their special events to life with desserts! If my clients have no idea where to begin with when it comes to desserts and designs, that’s where I come in and figure out how to incorporate not only beautiful but delicious sweet treats. I want people to know that I will be there for every special occasion they have: engagement, wedding, baby shower, first birthday, and etc.! So many of my clients have turned into friendships and I think that’s pretty amazing how this business gave me more friendships!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

The number one advice I always give when building a social media presence is, BE CONSISTENT! The social media world is moving faster and faster on the daily and people need to see YOU and your WORK every. single. day. You need to remind people that you are still working on your business and don’t be afraid to be yourself.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I have such supportive family and friends. They would be the first people that I would have try my desserts and they would give their honest opinions about it. And with that, my products not only looked great, but they also tasted good. First impressions are everything, if your product doesn’t look good and taste good people will not come back for more. It’s all about word of mouth as well. If people like you, they will refer you to people they know!
