We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasimin Hall. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jasimin below.
Jasimin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Stepping out as a solo esthetician is probably the biggest risk I’ve taken. Many estheticians go on to work for other spas when they graduate. However I had a different vision for myself so I decided to step out on faith and create my own brand. I come from a family of entrepreneurs who own a chain of restaurants so I was familiar with the ends and outs of running a business early in life. When I first began it was hard to attract and keep clients. I wasn’t able to pay my bills and even lost my suite due to non payment. So I had to become a in home esthetician where I was able to really focus on building my clientele properly. Once I felt I was able to build consistent clients I found another suite and I have been in the same location for 3 years now. I recently celebrated being licensed for 4 years. I would say I’ve come so far in my journey as a solo esthetician and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Jasimin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I had always suffered from acne and hyperpigmentation as a youth. I found that being a woman of color it was hard to find products to help my skin. I decided to go to Esthetician school to learn about skincare and I knew I would focus on corrective skincare for people of color. Now as a licensed esthetician I specialize in corrective skincare, lash extensions, and body waxing. I make sure any brands and products I use benefit all skin types. I am committed to helping my community learn how to correctly care for their skin.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been the power of social media. These days with the right post you can reach thousand at one time and I’ve gained many new clients from a single post.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe client reviews have helped me build my reputation within the market. People want to know if you really know what your are doing and they want to see results. I feel that a client review helps new clients feel secure and confident when they book their new client.
